Smrekovec

White waters are in many places and many I've seen already. These not yet. Bela Voda valley is e.g. one starting point for Smrekovec, this the only Slovenian volcano. Probably never like Etna, now from outside doesn't look like volcano at all, true in 30 million years since it got bored of the job much has changed. Among other sea drained from there. Started at Reberšak (others about 250m higher at Brložnik), past Brložnik (actually two) up to the Hut which was open and then less than half hour to the top. Except top where fog, weather nice, snow little from hut little (non obstructive), below summit none. Whole path full of wooden figures, someone really enjoys it.

At the starting point stands such a pipica. Half grandfather, I'd say. I won't comment :)

Lidija, geologists say that only the Smrekovec rock is of volcanic origin, which holds for the whole Smrekovec range and Kašna planina is similar. That Smrekovec is an extinct volcano are just guesses.
Our Bojan could say more.

@lidija, from north side I haven't walked yet
up, but tell me where that linden is, it interests me
that meadow above tree, I would go once
to try flying, of course if conditions, thanks!

At, I assume upper Brložnik is that linden.
And something about volcano, picture is panel before Hut, where corner about Smrekovec and surroundings.

something about volcanoes, but there probably aren't any more. :)

Maybe someone knows how trodden the mountain paths to Smrekovec and Komen are?

Is the road to Planinski dom on Smrekovec drivable or up to where can one drive?

What about Koča na Travniku? Is Travnik - Komen - Smrekovec trodden?

Aren't prices of mountain huts/huts, well according to category, (mostly) standardized?

Yes, only for certain items like water, tea, stews with/without meat, segedin, goulash. All other food and drink prices except recommended ones are set freely. This applies to huts I. and II. category. Operators of mountain huts III. category set prices for accommodations, food and drinks themselves, but must respect
the reduced price for overnight stay valid for PZS members.

Yesterday route done Andrejev dom - Smrekovec. Snow only on road below hut at Smrekovec. In middle section of path quite a few fallen trees, so need to make detour and jump lots of logs nasmeh

Whole path took approx. 7 hours

Hello.

Maybe I'll tackle the circular route Šoštanj or Florjan - Smrekovec Hut - Bele vode - Smrekovec Hut - Andrejev dom na Slemenu - Šentvid pri Zavodnju - Florjan...

The route I'd do mostly on the road, forest paths maybe even with a mountain bike, which has currently a bit narrower, not quite smooth tires, but good lateral grip...

Is it possible to park the car somewhere in Florjan or as visible from the map at probable farms Mostnar, Grebenšek and nearby? So at lower elevation than Rebršak, so no need to climb again at the end... Maybe somewhere in Šoštanj?

Is the (whole) planned route in OK condition for biking? Descent past Kopin, Slopšnek, Praprotnik, Žlebnik, Turk, Grebenšek.

If not this route, then back the way I came to Andrej's hut past Tolsti vrh, or past Počivalnik, Sv. Andrej, Razpodovnik to Grebenšek.

@lakkon hello!

Leave the car in Šoštanj and drive in the direction of Florjan, from where you continue to Bele vode. From here there are more options, I suggest the upper road in the direction of Kramarice-saddle. From the saddle go left in the direction of Smrekovec all the way to the hut, then return to Kramarice and go in the direction of the Hut on Slemen, you can also choose the road but I'm worried about how it is with fallen trees, which applies to all these forest roads you'll ride. From the Hut on Slemen descend to Zavodnje and further to Šoštanj, to the car. Maybe someone local chimes in and writes more about road drivability, as far as I hike in the hills now most roads are cleared of fallen trees.

TRAVERSING SMREKOVEC (within K-24 nasmeh

Past Andrejev dom with Zvone, during lively talk in clear night we go on road to branch over Staknetov vrh, on marked path towards Smrekovec. Path well cleared. At Smrekovec (Aleš waits for us at hut), where I swap forward prepared backpack. Eat something small and continue on path. Birds and wild rooster tell us we can switch off headlamps. Before us appear broken spruce tops, (surely about 50 less behind on path.) First people meet at planina Javorje, came to repair and erect pasture fence. Zvone looked interested at sinkhole, deep about 20 meters. Shortly after we at Loki.

We had all along the path: Teloh, Zvončke, Trobentice etc.

Zvone wanted to get as close as possible to the cave

We didn't see the entrance to the cave very well

They say that behind the passage there is a bell-shaped cave 60x90 m

Today we traversed Smrekovec from Komn to Dom na Smrekovcu. It's really very nice there. nasmeh

We started and finished the tour in the village Ljubenske Rastke. Total added up to 21 km.
