Smrekovec

I'm more bothered by the "highway" on Triglav than by once-weekly "ruts" with snowmobiles on Smrekovec.
It's true as they say, rules should apply to everyone, even our politicians don't follow them...nasmeh

On Sunday on Smrekovec there were no traces of sledders or behind them; unfortunately right below the summit a bag of trash, probably not from sledders – the trash was fresh!mrk pogledmrk pogled

Yeah probably there really aren't any more, if there's no snow velik nasmeh Or maybe they drive there on bare ground too? mežikanje Otherwise no worries, they've already scared off all the animals, so one bag of trash won't kill you.

Hello!

First hand as guardian of mountain nature, I'll briefly present the issue of driving snowmobiles and cross motorcycles in the Smrekovec area, which has been an unresolved problem for several years. That's why the Smrekovec nature conservation association was established, but due to inadequate legislation it can't solve it alone, let alone prevent driving in such a large area. Let's look at a nice example: if we see someone driving in a protected area, they usually have a helmet and an unregistered motor vehicle... how to file a report?? We usually manage to describe the vehicle, but identification of the person ends there... Inspections aren't carried out at all, so... as long as the legislation is like this, we can't do anything about it... If an inspector does catch someone, the fine is so miserable it's not worth the paper! The EU is already threatening fines because there's no control over Natura 2000 areas, not just here, but elsewhere in the country too... So, the state is responsible!!! It might be somewhat limited if there was willingness from municipalities and also mountaineering societies bordering Smrekovec, and especially the keeper of the Smrekovec Hut, to raise awareness and call via media or info points for environmental care, since nothing is said about it. Except on this forum, for which I thank you for opening this topic, only this way there's hope for improving this issue. Thanks everyone and best regards from the valley under Smrekovec!

Hello,
I'm glad someone in the right place has been found who can act further regarding these scoundrels. For starters, Klavdipo, I advise you based on what you've read to contact users Ludri and Ada from this portal, who surely know the mentioned sledders by name, if they aren't it themselves. From their published posts in this thread, quite a few useful pieces of information can be gleaned. Good luck with further action and best regards!

Becar, I know the sledders only superficially by name—just one—so you know, I don't snitch on them. I'm not their enemy like you because they've already helped many a hiker. It can happen that you need them sometime. Regarding animals, you make me laugh. If you want their names, turn to the hut keeper on Smrekovec; he'll surely oblige you gladlyvelik nasmehvelik nasmeh

Well, the debate has developed. I've been talking about this problem for two years, maybe three, and everyone mocks... I've even posted photos on this forum. My opinion on this problem—the keepers could do a lot if they were against sledders, but obviously not; they're only bothered by those picking blueberries and mushrooms. eekeekeekeekeekjezenjezenjezenmrk pogledmrk pogledmrk pogledmrk pogled hurrah for FIKO.

On 12.6 I walked on KPP. Path led me across Smrekovec ridge. My plan was to start hiking at 4 am. So I got to the hut already a bit hungry, ate stew then continued to Loki, path was dry, grass not grown yet, so no issues crossing the ridge. Livestock already grazing on Vodul and Javorje alps.

Crossing Smrekovec
after a snack at Loki, we head to Javorje alp where livestock struggles with the heat too. At Vodul alp we soak shirts and pour water down the collar. We expect refreshment at the trough before Travnik but sadly no water. So we visited the hut at Travnik and refreshed there. Today we meet lots of people on the whole path. No water in the stream before Smrekovec Hut either. We refresh at the hut and continue.
After the snack, we fill our water and hurry to find shade1

On Saturday short visit Smrekovec. We wanted something lazy for end of vacation. One hour hike, two hours lying in grass on top, then another hour hike. Good for a change.

On the Day of the Dead we took advantage of the nice weather and visited Smrekovec. Nice trip, we'll repeat it next time with the kids.
Too bad the hut was closed, even though PZS says it's open on holidays. Also, there was no stamp for the Slovenian Mountain Trail anywhere.
I can criticize those who maintain the theme park about the volcano and the origins of Smrekovec. The thing is unmaintained and will collapse in a year if it goes on like this.
