Sunday rambling on the Smrekovec plateau, had to visit all peaks and return the same way, as the lower path had no track, actually we broke trail from Smrekovec summit to Komen, hikers from Rastke eased the path a bit, but still - quite strenuous, sinking in a lot, weather gorgeous, clouds occasionally covered the sky, that was best as we sought shade.
Smrekovec looks like a snowmobile sports ground, true quiet yesterday, but ... where are you locals who allow this. Better remove the Natura 2000 sign  .
And who says the hut has a new keeper,  , still Mr. Fika, won't talk about that.

jprim yeah where do you live? who do you think rides the sleds? I know most snowmobilers all locals among them plenty of farm boys! don't bother me at all

He he just checked the environmental atlas what statuses the whole Smrekovec range has. It's Natura 2000, meaning it protects certain species and habitats, natural value, ecologically important area and nature reserve, which has highest protection level. But most important, snowmobilers don't bother Ada  Hahaha goodbye brains and goodbye world. No help for him. Hope Smrekovec becomes snowmobile paradise and all animal species disappear from there, as people and locals don't deserve it. Let nature stay where it's valued.

snowmobilers don't bother me either, I walk much more easily in winter... and the guys are really friendly and often help! They shouldn't be put in the same basket as e.g. motocross and quads that can destroy undergrowth etc...

Super, super!  Important that snowmobilers don't bother us. They don't bother me either and I'd love to ride snowmobile sometime But my name ain't capercaillie. And Natura 2000 area wasn't made for me. I live where living is for people and do what I like as long as I don't bother or harm others. Read which species the Smrekovec Natura 2000 is for. One is capercaillie. Read how it's dying out here and about one of its interesting diseases. When you've read all that and broadened your narrow knowledge then report. Nah no need, why fight over some chickens. Good chicken is only roasted chicken, right? Most important, snowmobilers ease your walking on snowy hills and you admire beautiful nature. Do you even know what you're admiring?

I know well they are locals, I live there ...where I hope we respect neighbors a bit more.
But calling on conscience of other locals aware of Natura 2000 meaning, in front of house a small pavilion is being set up, or still equipping with some fuuuul smart signs that are just on paper, , really curious who supports such pavilion, even financially, if funds obtained better return them right away.
I think even keepers support racers,... that's my humble opinion,...

Don't know the specific issue, but referring to "snowmobilers" in general. This year on Mrzlica one of those idiots with reckless driving forced me to step into 1m deep snow without gaiters. Otherwise would've run me over. Then those wild guys got to me and can't stand seeing them. If area is Natura 2000, no discussion. Report it, remember Okrogli muzikanti had to pay fine just for shooting video. Or Ada and Ludri can pay the fine supporting that behavior.

Becar, I didn't say I drive but said it doesn't bother me and I have nothing against those who drive, so don't mix things up! I also met sledders when I was there. And we chatted friendly too. If they are friendly it doesn't mean they act right by sledding there. Problem is it's a protected area and they damage it unaware. Two options: cancel this area as nature protection area or prevent sledding there. Both together sadly not possible. So this surely won't last long. Well, since I have the possibility to stop it, I'll take care of it So many unprotected areas around where one could sled...
