Today over Stenarska Vratca to Stenar, snow starts at the turnoff for Vratca. Upper part a bit harder because of little snow, today it went ok as snow was hard. Traverse under Stenar was sinking quite a bit, from turnoff for Spodnji Stenar to summit hard snow again so quick and no issues. Descent over Sovatna, cables mostly out, soon after snow runs out. Lower path no issues. Full winter gear needed for this tour!

Great, today it was really nice around here. We only went to the traverse under Stenar unfortunately as time ran out for more. Next time start earlier. Previous poster said all about conditions.

Today before forecasted stronger wind, headed to Stenar. Up via Stenarska vratica, snow starts around 1900m, frozen. Traverse also frozen. Back via Sovatna, little frozen snow, aids out then snow runs out. Used full winter gear.

On Sunday 8.1. Nataša and I climbed Stenar from Pogačnikov dom. To Dovška vrata mostly dry, some spots where crampons would be good but doable without. Further hard crust, traverse trodden. Descended through Sovatna, with crampons to 1850m, next 300m descent quite unpleasant conditions due to many icy patches.

Today on Stenar, up through Stenarska Vratca, down via Sovatna. Conditions weren't just good, but excellent. Snow starts around 1500m and is firm, only later during descent it softened, but didn't break through. Road to Aljažev dom has been clear for some time.
Strange that Stenar isn't more popular, as this hike is in my opinion really nice and scenic.

Tried today. Before the fork to Dovška vrata there is a steep and fairly extensive snowfield that cannot be safely crossed without winter gear.
