@udy81 the path is called Trate/Johhansenruhe - Stol, you have it on the mountain list;

Since it's logistically awkward to drive to Austria and therefore descend the same path, I recommend starting at Tinčkova koča in Završnica, continuing over Zagon and the saddle before Celovška špica to Celovška koča on the Austrian side, ascent via ferrata and descent via the scree under Stol back to Završnica... Or from Stol descend under Celovška špica and return over the saddle to the starting point in Medji dol...

No need to descend the same path, i.e., the climbing path. Descend this one:

Getting to the starting point Trate/Johhansenruhe from the Celovec side is very easy ... even just following the description on hribi.net. That way you make a nice loop, the whole path is really very nice nasmeh

@Jus Why already? Will they get lost? Then, say, from Tinčkova koča toward the Koča at the source of Završnica, then left over Šija and then traverse under Vrtača toward Stol, then before CŠ down to the other side... Nice loop, isn't it?

I see that in recent days there are no nice views from Stol compared to Saturday, when we had still a beautiful day and matching views... nasmeh

Finally snow again mežikanje

Starts approx at 1700 m and thickens slowly with altitude

higher up about 15 cm, in drifts we waded up to our knees.

Is the road now to Valvazorjeva hut drivable?

Memi, the road to Valvasorjev dom is normally drivable, even newly fixed before last rain. Detour due to works below in village, but traffic flows smoothly.

Me too, today on Stol from Ljubelj via Zelenica. Weather really great. Snow on this side also about as much as Bojan mentions for Stol crossing, about 15 cm, sometimes sinking to the knees.

Crampons or winter gear not needed, snow is south-facing. However, conditions will change significantly tomorrow and likely become real winter conditions.

Today on Stol via Žirovniška gora, down via Zabrška. Snow starts at approx. 1400m, not much on top. Crampons not needed, no views. Road to Valvazor nicely drivable.

There's little snow on Stol so no special winter gear needed. Small crampons recommended for descent through the gully. Lots of people today, both those of us taking around 3 hours to the top and recreational hikers with minimal gear for whom Stol is good training. The one I talked to took only an hour and a half to the top eek

Today I also went to Stol, it's close and had just the right height today so I enjoyed the sun nasmeh

I always pause a bit and catch my breath on Prižnica, the view is just right for it

Just enough snow to leave your tracks in it

Over the valley the sky closed faster and faster, even Bled didn't escape

Everyone went up this gully today, to me it seems murderous, no end to it

Yesterday on Stol there was quite a lot of snow, the path well trodden to Prižnica, further very bad and it sank deeply. Otherwise wonderful weather with fantastic views jezik

Today on Stol I started before Valvasor hut, then along Žirovnica path to the top. Initially the path was quite icy, but as snow cover thickens there is less ice, snow hard and trodden. From Prižnica more snow but still good walking. To the top like most hikers today straight to saddle between both Stols then to summit. On way to saddle, summit and back used crampons as quite icy in places also strong wind gusts. On top wonderful views far around, quite a few visitors in beautiful weather. Wonderful day in mountains, real winter idyll.
