At half past 11 I started from Valvazorja. When I got to the saddle, it was already a nice thaw and the wind had calmed down too.

The path is already quite passable without winter gear. There's no snow up to the last gully, between little and big Stol there's still quite some. lg

Applies to both paths, Žirovniška and Zabreška, that they are normally passable or how? Is ice axe in backpack enough for both? Thanks in advance!

I went up the Žirovniška path on Saturday. I think all who started from Slovenia went up this path to the top. At least 10 hikers.

Otherwise, the path is nicely passable without any issues. Snow base hard and compact. Ice axe can stay in backpack. Snow base starts at the beginning of the gully.

This morning up and down Žirovniška and my ice axe didn't stay in backpack. Snow completely frozen and early hours warmly recommend ice axe and crampons. Later in day probably frozen base softens.

It'll hold true, buddy, in the morning between the "Stols" it's icy, hard, so crampons, ice axe aren't superfluous. We can avoid it and go along the ridge which is smooth to the hut, from there there shouldn't be any problem...☺

In the last week really a lot of snow has melted, but yesterday still I wasn't shortchanged for sliding in the channel between Stols. Weather wasn't the most friendly, but friendly are the new caretakers at Valvasor with very nicely arranged surroundings, for me new is also the annex and another entrance to the hut. I tasted their culinary specialty ajdove krape too, tea they have for incredible 1.20€. (in Prešernova hut 1.90€ - don't know how everyone can ignore PZS rules)

in Prešernova hut on Stol tea price is 1.80 euro, which is evident on all price lists in the hut.
would be smarter to check before writing something not true.

Yes, so as not to forget, we were on Sunday 15. 6. in the hut on Stol, also here new caretakers very friendly and have excellent food, regarding snow there's still one smaller snow patch to cross towards Zelenica. Regarding prices need to consider helicopter transport, prices according to PZS list and for high altitude huts 1. category.
