To Triglav?

The route we did with my wife is impossible in 1 day, except for some extremist. But I agree with panda, don't we fight with time enough already in the valley?

I'm not after Triglav. I'd go for mountain-running training.

Then go train somewhere else. Why exactly Triglav, because at this time it's the most crowded and question if the training is quality considering the column sometimes moves snail-like to the top.

I agree. That's why I'm not going. This year probably one will have more opportunities. Most likely next year in May, if not too much snow.

For the Triglav route we took two days, 21 and 22.08. We started at Rudno polje past Vodnikov dom to Planika. After a half-hour break we headed to the summit and then descent back to the hut. Next morning early start to Dolič and onward via Hribarice to Prehodavci and past Sedmerih lakes to the hut. After lunch continued via Prode to Planina pri jezeru and final descent to planina Blato where the trip ended. The path is a real balm for the soul, so wonderful that it simply cannot be described, you have to experience it.

Tomorrow morning I planned to head to Triglav, first to Kredarica and sleep there, then in the morning to the summit and down to Dolič, Prehodavci, Sedmera, Komarča and down to Bohinj

Since it's been like a hundred years since I was last on Triglav, I wonder if this route is for two or three days
Called Kredarica, they said all full and booked. What now? Is it possible to sleep somewhere warm even if all beds are taken? Sleep outside? Suggestions and ideas welcome.

You gotta ask the weathermen, find them at Kredarica.

Today I hiked quite a few paths around Triglav. I started at Rudno polje and went first to Planika. I only emerged from the thick fog at an altitude of about 2100m. From Planika I continued to Kredarica and then past the glacier and across Kugyjeva polica to Morbegna. The path across the polica is marked with red lines, on the more dangerous sections it's also secured with a cable. Nevertheless, considerable caution is needed when crossing the polica, as the path runs directly above the precipitous north face, and there's also quite a bit of scree on the path. From Morbegna I then continued towards the summit of Triglav. I descended via Mali Triglav to Planika. From Planika I went to Dolič and then down Velska dolina to Velo polje and back to the starting point at Pokljuka.

I have a couple of questions about the Kugy polica. How is it secured, is it very risky or so well secured that you can cross it with a high degree of caution? How much walking is there, say, from Kredarica to Morbenga and how long do you walk directly above the north face?
Thanks and LP

Rok, where is the branch from Kredarica to the Kugy polica over the glacier. Is it marked? Do you maybe have some GPS track? Thanks.

From Kredarica you continue towards Triglav. A few meters behind the signposts where the Čez Prag path branches off, you turn right and continue pathless towards the north (towards the summit Glava 2426m). Here on rocks there are quite a few marks indicating crevasses. When approaching Glava, on the left you notice the trail leading up the scree. This path is already marked with red lines.
The path across the polica is then short, also not technically demanding. With some caution, the scree on the path shouldn't cause problems. Across Kugyjeva polica I think it's less than 20 minutes' walk.

Hi! I'm asking if it's worth going to Triglav tomorrow, if it's safe enough. Thanks for the answer.

It's always worth it, since every ascent is a new experience, safety is a very relative term, anyway if you can't go further you can always turn back. Velkavrh said you need to dress warmly, because the zero isotherm will be around 2200 meters altitude.

Rok, many thanks for the pictures, description and GPS track. I'm slowly getting used to pathless terrain, and the GPS track confirmed the safety of my orientation in pathless terrain. Please provide some more similar GPS tracks, I'd be very grateful.
After analyzing the GPS track, I see you're veeery fast. To do such a route in 6 and a half hours, (approx 76 steps per minute), uf, you're a real chamois. Thanks once again.

rok, if possible upload your route along kugi polica with description and pics here as standalone tour from kredarica to triglav? For me, and maybe others too it would be very interesting, and easier to find- e.g. next year when I'll have chance again to go a bit more seriously into julijce.
