Hi! tomorrow I'm planning a one-day trip to Triglav from Pokljuka. what's the earliest in the morning we can start, so we won't walk too long in the dark..? thanks and have a nice day

Dawn starts only after 6am, around 6:30. It would be better to start in the dark with headlamps...at the beginning it's really easy and let the day catch you at the pass...it's an unforgettable-divine experience

Definitely not before six. Take lights and start at 5 and use that hour at the top, if the weather holds. Good luck!

True, I envy those who can head to the mountains mid-week like that, especially Triglav, since from pics no crowds, so you enjoy the trail itself and summit, experience totally different. maree - decide when you want dark, morning or evening , I'd start before five in your shoes, easier morning dark when not tired yet, than evening. Safe steps.

But don't overdo that... Basically you can do such a tour starting at dawn too... For those with good fitness and experience... Still put a light in backpack if dark catches you on return...

Well yeah, if you walk slowly and count all stops, it takes about 12 hrs. From half 7 am to half 7 pm it's still somewhat light.. I think for now it still works. Yeah, headlamp anyway..

Actually the problem is that if the day is nice, like those this week, it's a shame to be back in the valley at noon .

Yesterday afternoon I also conquered Triglav. We started from Vrata via Tominšek past Kredarica to Triglav. Then we descended over Triglav Notch to Dolič where we slept. In the morning through Valley of Triglav Lakes over Komarča to Koča pri Savici. Great two days, on top with a tear in eyes, at end a bit tired but extremely satisfied. Triglav means personal victory for me, as a good year ago it was science fiction for me to stand on top, then I discovered wonderful world of hills and fell in love with mountains. Started conquering hills, peaks, gaining fitness, experience and slowly "climbed" higher... I know lots of beautiful hills and mountains, but Triglav was unattainable for me for so many years. Great, I made it
