To Triglav?

Hi, I'm also interested, what's the path Kredarica-Triglav like? Are crampons needed, or could it be done with just an ice axe? To Kredarica is probably mostly dry.

Planning to go to the top with my boyfriend this Saturday.

Thanks, best regards from Maribor.

Crampons are very much needed at this time (and will be relevant long into summer), there are still many snowfields, even on south slopes. Of course it depends on current conditions whether you need to take them out of the backpack and use them. After say a colder clear night the already hard and firm snow freezes hard and without crampons such snowfields especially if steeper can't be crossed safely just using the ice axe. The sun doesn't soften such snow much either. Ascent to Triglav from Kredarica can be problematic in this sense mainly in the initial part and some traverses, the ridge is mostly rocky.

Thanks, triglavski. I agree, the snow is firm, which can be a big hazard. Crampons in the backpack, it will be! And that even longer into summer :-)

My opinion: as long as there's snow (even just a patch), don't even think about whether to take winter gear, it's mandatory. And ice axe and crampons aren't heavy anyway.
Life is one.

Hi antik!
I'm also leading a small group (4-5) 20.-22.06. to Triglav from Krma via Kredarica, so we'll see each other.

asxx you have PP actually Private message.

Just to say, I see someone wrote that this weekend the weather is so beautiful it would be a shame to miss it and not go to the mountains somewhere.

But I hope someone went to Triglav this weekend and beautiful photos from Triglav will surely appear on Hribi.net these days.

Was anyone on Triglav or on Sedmeri this weekend? I'm interested in how the snow is, but is the entry from Kredarica into the wall nicely snowed and how is it over Hribarci and from Dolič to Triglav.

Hi, with my boyfriend we were on Saturday, 13.6 on Triglav. We went from Krma. To Kredarica there is still snow in some areas (on the way back we slid nicely and gained more than an hour). From Kredarica - entry to the wall is really still snowed, there we also used ice axes, further the path is dry so we didn't need crampons. It was a nice day, not many people at the top, but there will be more in the future. From this side (Krma-Kredarica-summit) the path is technically not demanding and soon there will be no more snow. But there is still quite a lot of snow from the north side.
Best,
Silva

Super, this Saturday I'm also going there.
Just interested since I'm going for 3 days is Dom Valentina Staniča already open?
Because since going for 3 days we might have time so we go to Cmir or Begunjski vrh.
Thanks

Does anyone know what is the price (for members of Mountaineering Association) for overnight at Kredarica?
How much is overnight in room and how much in dormitory?

Next Saturday and part of Sunday will be cloudy with rain and cooling, in high mountains probably also snowing - see link Krtina with 10-day weather forecast.

I'm interested in the route to Triglav from the end of the path at Pokljuka via Planika... is there a possibility midway to jump to Tosc then directly from Tosc to Planika so I don't have to return to Studorsko sedlo (is it called that?)? so I conquer two peaks in two days.. velik nasmeh

For a good mountaineer all ridges can be crossed, from Viševnik, M.Draški vrh (descent to the saddle between Veliki Draški vrh is on a section of 2-3 degree climbing, then to Veliki Draški vrh, then descent to saddle and via NW gully to Tosc. The tour can be done in summer, as now snow if still in gully doesn't give safety for ascent, especially after 12:00 when top snow layer gives way to a depth of 10 and more cm. The same happened in Škrbina Zadnje špranje, but I had no trouble with crust and ice axe on top. Also eased ascent for Austrians as they alone had no needed gear and wandered more on rocks. Well, when the notch settled a bit by steps, it went with kicking without risk.
