To Triglav?

Print
robi146. 09. 2013 12:10:52
Hi!
On Sunday I'm going to Triglav from Pokljuka and since I don't want to hike there and back the same path I'll choose Kredarica as intermediate stop besides Planika.
I'm interested which path is more recommended for up?
Via Calvary and Kredarica or via Planika?

Thanks and best,

robi

Go via Calvary to Kredarica and summit, at Mali Triglav you can leave backpack, descent to Planika, it's nicer.... Nice hike and safe stepnasmeh

>>at Mali Triglav you can leave backpack

But that I really don't recommend on a mountain like Triglav.

Thanks Mukica...
I first had Škrbina in mind, then they convinced me they'd rather see Kredarica.
Gear I haven't been leaving behind for a long time.

Don't leave your items unattended at all. You can't imagine how much mischief happens up there too, until you experience something yourself. Not only on Triglav.

To stumble inside would be good.

Regarding Mukica's suggestion to leave the backpack.., my wife and I a good month ago on the ascent to Triglav summit left poles under the notch, when we went back no trace of them, since "non-mountaineers" started going to the mountains I won't leave anything unsupervised anymore, as Becar wrote.

How can he be a non-mountaineer if he goes to the mountains?
You still don't know that theft has become the national sport in Slo.

why Triglav is so visited is really not hard to figure out. Remove all the ironware that's on it, and you'll see the consequencesnasmeh

I so far have no bad experience, I've left things already, even backpack several times and got them back on return too..on Mali Triglav behind the rock there are almost always backpacks...cool .suggestion was well-meaningnasmeh

They already knew even in old times that opportunity makes a thief, so just don't leave things around, and it'll be solved ...

It's not true that opportunity makes a thief. I'm not a thief and I won't ever take something that's not mine. The nation is gone mad, corrupted in the core of its soul. Such ones belong to Goli otok. To torture until he admits he's rotten to the bottom of his a.s.s. and promises never to do such a thing again. mežikanje... re-education

So you're saying then, Becar, that you're mad, corrupted in the core of your soul. Could be, very much could be.

If I go back a bit to the debate about "climbers" on Aljažev tower and statements that it's just a pile of iron and has no historical or nation-forging value. You just need to browse a bit through mountaineering literature and you'll see in what times the tower was built and what meaning it had then for the Slovenian nation. Regarding accessibility, I agree that the path without aids would be very demanding and would decimate hordes of visitors. As an example, a few years ago my neighbor (otherwise a tough woman) went, at the urging of her husband and his mountain (beer) buddies from Pokljuka via Planika to the top and back. At the first cables they realized she was vertiginous, so they roped her like a calf among Huron sheep, dragged her to the top and then lowered her to the starting point. She couldn't walk for two weeks. But now she's a real Slovenka. For shitting.

Even re-education doesn't help psychopaths. So I didn't have all the worst sick ones up there in mind. You can see that.

I just call them Sunday hikers, not non-hikers, you recognize them right away by their culture, which is completely different from the culture of a real mountaineer.nasmeh

Regarding the over-equipment of the Triglav route and the resulting crowds, I would warn about some caveats. It's certainly true that if the route wasn't equipped, there would be far fewer people up there. But that's an absolute view. In relative terms, the crowds might even be worse. After all, it would still be our highest peak and people would still rush up. And what would happen? The fact is that the capacity of the route with slings and pegs increases considerably. And although there are jams at peaks on Triglav, on an unprotected approach they would form with far fewer people. And retreating in an unprotected wall can be even more tricky than in slings. Add to that guiding ropes and eventual less brave ones who would want to go up roped, rope tangles, and an eventual abseiler who would rappel over the crowd on descent, and despite fewer people in absolute terms, the situation might be even more unpleasant and dangerous than now. Not to mention that even if the route was never actually secured, pegs would quickly multiply in it, gradually replaced by bolts, and I'm convinced fixed ropes would quickly appear at key spots, even if PZS wouldn't approve such a decision.
In short, amid all the moralizing about how it is on Triglav, it's good to keep in mind that this might be the least bad option.

Triglav is like a pretty neighbor. Hard to access, not for everyone, already taken, all sorts of whims, picky but still everyone would circle around her, regardless of age and ability.
