To Triglav?

@jax, well written!
Mass ascents to the highest peak can't be prevented by lack of equipment on the route. Just look across the border and see that what you wrote holds absolutely true.

@jax, that's right!
To Triglav, the structure of so-called good people doesn't go; they are only found on pathless terrain and hard-to-access routes. True, the frequency of people there is lower, but the mentality of people there is different too, and we only wish it stays that way!
Triglav has become a "sad mountain", worn out and trodden, in all its grandeur becoming just a shadow of itself...

On Grossglockner they removed the slings and the result is even bigger crowds at the key spot. People jostle and queue to take their turn. They didn't do it for fewer visitors but commercialized it. Austrian guides are rubbing their hands. I think most of us here don't want that. Triglav has long been popularized and let it stay that way. For real mountaineers there are plenty of other, even nicer peaks that aren't so crowded. But we can't own any peak. We have to start from the simple fact, if I can go up, anyone else can too, or none of us.

With slings or without, worn out, pissed on or shat on, when you first step on it, the feeling for everyone is slightly different than stepping on any other Slovenian pimple. It will be there, we (currently know-it-alls) in eternal hunting grounds, haugh I said.

To those who took the line that above-average securing is actually better, who think people would rush up en masse even if the route wasn't so well secured.
For you I have the following question - why does traffic drop tenfold in winter, when the ascent difficulty rises exponentially? Not because people don't want to go there in winter anymore?

Or differently: trophy - a photo with the snow-covered Aljaž Tower is worth much more than a photo in summer conditions. And yet not so many go for it.

Well, on Mont Blanc or Grossglockner there are also much fewer people in winter. When it is the season, it doesn't depend on the route's equipment.

No no, if they put up belay poles like on GG, you'd see how it would affect the number of winter ascents.

@jesihar, even in winter, to be completely honest, there's a nice track beaten to it. And walking on that track is quite busy too, so it's hard to say that in winter "the difficulty of the ascent increases exponentially". And as long as Kredarica is open in winter, there'll be crowds in good weather then too!
It's just the highest peak and consequently the most tempting! And that's right!

Yesterday did the route Vrata - Bivouac - Luknja - Plemenice - Triglav - Kredarica - Staničev dom - Prag - Vrata.
Low clouds accompanied me to Luknja, then on the continuation via Plemenice sunshinesmile, when I reach the summit clouds cover all viewsrolling, oh well, since I already know the panorama wellwinking. At the top they were just packing up the other "Aljažev stolp" which they have for filming a documentary.
Shame, because visibility was very poor on the descent, as I had planned descent via Dolina za Cmirom, next timetongue

Stealing shoes in the mountains is really crazy..at least they could have left him the old ones so he could return to the valley safe and sound.
Unthinkable for me. But still, at night I take the shoes to the room if I overnight somewhere up there. How sad

That's rightsad, I too left barefoot in India (it was in the 10 mil. city Bangalore), a yogi takes me home on a moped. The newbie guy (rickshaw man) comes to holy yoga, but steals just a pinch of material glory there-shoes, compared to the spiritual treasure within, if he had devoted himself to Sahaja yoga.They say that if a realized person loses something, that part of clothing, footwear is already too contaminated vibrationally with neg. vibrations, so it's good to get rid of it if we want to stay pure.

Yesterday we were among a ton of hikers on Triglav too. We did the same route as strikan and his group.... We met part of the group that's in pic 16 several times during the day.... despite the crowds and the dance of clouds around Triglav we had a nice day and safely returned to the valley.

Also for our youngest, not yet 11-year-old family member, the time has finally come to fulfill his long-standing strong desire to climb to the top of Triglav. To give him the green light for such a feat, he had to climb quite a few Slovenian peaks, even on more demanding paths. Based on his previous experiences, we decided for a one-day ascent to Triglav summit via Tominšek from Vrata and descent over Prag. This path is one of the shorter accesses to Triglav, but steep, demanding yet very interesting, varied and well protected. As such, it posed no problems for our boy, as he has already done technically more demanding paths. Only the slippery rock on the northern sides bothered a bit, as the heavy dew no longer dries even during the day. After arriving at Kredarica, fog enveloped us, which we fought until Mali Triglav, but higher up its tentacles didn't reach. At the summit nice, sunny and warm. Views beautiful, but only to the peaks peeking out of the fog, here and there the view reached lower, especially to the north. Descent to Kredarica was slow and careful due to heavy traffic. There we sat a bit more and then descended back to the valley over Prag.
Strong will and desire did their job this time and surely the son will happily remember his first ascent to Triglav summit.

Yesterday there were really quite a few of us on Triglav. I met family @pohodni about twice, from Triglav to Kredarica I was obviously walking behind part of the group from @strikan nasmeh. Not too many hikers via Plemenice, from Triglav to Kredarica though you spend that hour in the crowd, anyway mežikanje.

On the way back I went to Stanič's hut too and saw that the talkative, nice caretaker is exactly the one who served for years in Rozka on Krvavec. Since she's no longer in Rozka, Rozka isn't really Rozka anymore mežikanje. I'd say most skiers miss her there over winter mežikanje.

And a couple of pics ...

What are the conditions like for Triglav these days - so in rainy weather, is the ridge path or elsewhere more slippery, dangerous, or not? Say if I went up tomorrow morning?

VesnaM9. 09. 2013 18:22:02
Seriously? In rain everything's slippery, whole path you're washed by rain, slippery, no views at all, possibly thick fog too, tomorrow might even fall some light snow.. wouldn't it be better to wait for weekend? they say it'll be nice nasmeh
