To Triglav?

Print
andrejp16. 09. 2013 08:29:27
On Saturday we were up there too. I fully agree with Viharnik's opinion. There was ice and snow up there, especially from the direction of Mali Triglav to the summit. No crampons, ice axe and other gear. On the ridge a column, if one slips and... Really irresponsible to self and others. We went over Škrbina. All ok to 100m below summit where ice and snow appeared. If no ice axe, question if we'd go for top. Only couple meters. As for pics, let people see what you deal with in high mountains.

Dprapr, partially agree on privacy, but in foreign high mountains at random encounter with mountain police you'd squeak thinly with ban on further ascent and fine in wallet.

Posting girl's pic is completely inappropriate and needs deleting. If Urarrr not himself, admin should. For this debate first pic enough, all clear from it. What's sense in recognizing the girl? Next time me when I go up eg without helmet?

mpurg- some low sneakers many better grip and all than some big clodhoppers whatever rubber. Some who don't know this better not debate it. If ice then no matter what on feet slips anyway-except crampons

Hi,
I'm interested in what the conditions are like over Rudno polje to Planika and then to Triglav? I'm somehow planning departure on Thursday or Friday (now I hope there won't be too much new snow tonight or tomorrow?!). Is the route doable without crampons?

That there is some mountain police abroad that interferes with hikers' gear, I hear for the first time. It's more like wet dreams of some of our cops who want to roam the hills at taxpayers' expense.

Once during a winter ascent to Cima Ombrettola in the Dolomites I did meet cops, but they showed no interest in my gear at all - probably they had too much trouble themselves descending a 45-degree snowy slope with crampons and ski poleszavijanje z očmi

mikkeni - On the ridge there's quite a bit of wind-polished snow and it's slippery.. with gusts of strong wind on the section without cables it wasn't pleasant at all.. that was how it was on Saturday.

Otherwise, conditions are different with every new snowfall.

mikkeni your question is funny,,you can't know that yet,,you'll tell if you go on Thursday. Tomorrow snow forecast around 1600m, how much unknown, max around 10 cm (Kredarica).

Posting the picture is not inappropriate, as the face isn't visible (unless some pics deleted).

But I think every public mountain rescue report where cause is irresponsibility should be published with rescued person's name and surname. In plain view and forever on the web. If irresponsible, bear the shame publicly.

Or else - when your irresponsibility endangers others (rescuers' work), you've lost privacy right.

Husky, just go in sandals above Zermatt and you'll see quickly what time it is. Personal gear for the mountains is basic preparation for the tour. If you don't even have that, then already at the start you can't plan a safe ascent. In the mountains we know that conditions are changeable, sometimes unplanned, despite being well-equipped. I'd rather finish washing the windowszavijanje z očmi

Now you're exaggerating.

I assume in road traffic you all drive exactly by rules, because if not you endanger yourself,(especially) other participants, rescuers, police and firefighters....

@jesihar, public publishing of personal data in such cases has been prohibited by law for some time. Also in traffic accidents, personal data of accident culprits can't be publicly published. Since the public in such cases isn't informed of all facts, such public pillorying can be very unfair to these people. I think the age of stoning is long gone. In orderly states such matters are handled by competent authorities (police, prosecution, courts,...), of course with prior legal basis. Maybe it would be good to think in that direction.

I too know that abroad there exists mountain police with proper powers and not just warning like ours. If equipped according to regulations and behave according to rules on path, of course you don't notice it. And I'm for introducing such police here too.

@tol: going in such conditions to Triglav with footwear like the lady on the pic is not comparable only to some cavalier traffic offense (ex. few km over limit or daytime lights off) but like having summer tires in winter conditions on the road!

In case of accident and rescue of such equipped, they need to be hit financially in the pocket.

Dear all

@dprapr
@cebelca
@Keko

I posted the photo because you simply can't be normal and go to snowy Triglav in sandals. (sandals socks tights shorts and tracksuit top on top)

Right in front of my eyes someone slipped on Triglav itself. He was about 5-8 m from me. I couldn't do anything. It ended at the cemetery. He had all the gear, but his crampon still slipped.. not nice to watch...

Now imagine dear gentlemen and ladies that such a patient (in sandals) slips a few meters above you, do you think you'll stop his slip...or will you slide with him too...into the abyss of course,,

With this behavior he ENDANGERS everyone walking below and of course himself.

If the lady was Slovenian I would ask her if she's smooth. But that day there were over 50% Czechs or Slovaks up there... Unfortunately quite a few in similar footwear...

Dear urarrr

Your action is criminal and violates fundamental human rights and freedoms.

..and if it bothers someone, or if the mentioned lady recognizes herself in the photos and this "public lynching" "hurts" her... you might face some legal "sanctions"....

damn it... rule of law after all

@tol: unfortunately, you're right. But I don't know who to feel sorry for, the one who such a fool takes along and slips down? If she slips alone, I don't care, even if she takes someone equipped with her? It's similar to when in winter conditions on well-snowed paths they rush up without crampons or ice axe, with those 4 frog teeth or something similar, and they say they're equipped... Unfortunately that's not punishable, here there's no rule of law, neither at yours nor at ours... mrk pogled

I think you've strayed from "proper gear" or the photo into "rule of law", which has nothing to do with the topic. Again.

Fact is, you don't hike mountains in sandals. Especially not when it's KNOWN that there's snow and ice up there. The action is IRRESPONSIBLE and UNACCEPTABLE. If a person doesn't have suitable gear for the given tour or conditions, they should go elsewhere. E.g. to the sea in sandals...
