We went last weekend on a slightly longer route:

The Triglav ski touring highway is an ambitious and orientationally demanding undertaking, for which we need stable weather and favorable conditions, as we cross avalanche-prone and slippery slopes. Despite all difficulties - or precisely because of them - the Triglav ski touring highway ranks among the most beautiful and most coveted experiences of our winter mountains. (Big ski touring guide - Igor Jenčič)

We tackled it in three days, from Saturday to Monday. All days together kitschy weather and ideal conditions, even skiing in late afternoon hours was great.

First day stage from Vogel to Komna. Since the snow was good and we had some energy left we pushed to below Podrta Gora. Descent straight to Govnač was phenomenal, so good that it tempted us for one more short run just before Komna.

Second day reserved for the royal stage. Since Primož and Martin were in shape we decided to do it from Komna to Kredarica. Up to Sedmerih we went over Lepa Komna, so only the forest path dragged. It's well marked with winter markers, but still requires attention, all predecessors got lost on this path. The valley of seven lakes was the highlight of the second day, all nicely filled and no ski tracks. Under Kanjavec ski tracks appeared, but the summit was so close we had to go there too. Towards Velem Polje it was a real ski resort, from that side there were at least 30 skiers on Kanjavec for the weekend. At Velem Polje again our own way to Konjsko sedlo and in the dark to Kredarica. The stage was really long, total 25km and 2100m ascent.

On Monday breakfast payment for the debt of the second day, ascent to Triglav, descended via Miler. It's ideally filled, which Blaž and Nika used on skis. Whole route 70cm powder. At Kredarica fatigue and Marker bindings contributed to descending to the valley via Kalvarija and not via Staničeva Koča. My second experience with Marker bindings and guests didn't convince me of their quality again, this time the head came off on the Tour and we almost had to tape Martin's to the ski.

This time more pics, photo Domen Kastelic, Primož Marolt and yours truly. Find them at: http://gorski.vodnik.alpinizem.net/blog/

Hello. All week I followed the weather forecast, which was favorable for Thursday (cold at night) and I wasn't wrong, just underestimated the wind strength a bit, which in the end spoiled plans for the dash to the summit (quite strong gusts)jezen. Yesterday conditions were super for hikers too (I was on skis though). Still starting from Kurje vasi, just the road is getting more bare (but it'll stay unplowed quite a while longer, unless they plow it sooner). LP, D.
There was some sun in between too1

Today excellent conditions from Trenta to Triglav. Along mulatiera to Skok, then across "avalanche" under Morbegno to the top. Descent over Bovška škrbina. Under the wall on skis to hut at Dolič, then up to Kanjavec, and ski over Prehodavci and Čez Dol back to Zadnjica.

From Kredarca they say it's dangerous because there are avalanches up there? What's up with that, anyone got more info?

No track from Kredarica, avalanche is the usual one (bit below summit). Track goes thru Miler chimney, met Igor on top today. Conditions super here too, normal route probably good, just ledges tougher without track - snow pretty hard in morning.

Yes Mitja, as many as 7 of us gathered on top at once. Bojan avalanches always there, just go a bit lower under ridge.

A bit more about Triglav from me:

Sunday with Igor and Zoran up Slovenska smer in Stena. Morning cold, conditions accordingly. Followed frozen footsteps whole route, snow gripped crampons perfectly. White slabs snow-free, rest still super covered. Bučarjeva stena won't hold under snow much longer, when it melts could form snow overhang here. Exited via winter classic - Prevc.

Of course not alone in route, rope team ahead exited via Frelih, we parallel with four skiers all way, triple team behind, probably others that day. For descent, though on foot, chose ski touring route to Cmir. Breaking trail to Staničeva took almost 1.5 hrs, snow on slopes not hiker-friendly. From Staničeva back to car in 1.5 hrs. Secret in clothing - Gore-Tex pants slide well on snow and on butt we were in valley even faster than skiers.

Tech gear waited in winter room at Staničeva hut - room really well kept. Monday met Primož and Toni at 7am on Kredarica, heading to Triglav. So start from Vrata early, already 3:15 knees hurting with skis on pack, again to Cmir. Snow retreated high, good pace took me 40 min to it. Then skis on, snow totally concrete. So steepest part better on foot, didn't want to jump lower rock step with skins.

Higher conditions better for walking, but without skins that day wouldn't have made it. At 6:15 woke three guys in winter room, sorry again for reveille. They didn't quite get where I came from middle of night and why. 6:50 even bit ahead of plan at Kredarica.

Triglav via normale not tracked, snow hard so we left it too. Instead traversed above glacier and climbed it via Miler. Ascent conditions fantastic, old track helped a bit and up quick. On top with guys from winter room, Igor came up Primorska side and chatted bit. Weather and view fantastic, winter usually don't linger on top that long - either wind or cold…

Descent took longer, from saddle watched young ones ski down Miler, then calm pace down after them to Kredarica. Primož and I skied to Cmir, Toni decided sleep over again.

Skiing to Cmir pure poetry top to bottom. From Kredarica descended lower than most, those turns worth bit longer skin to Staničeva. Then down right fork, almost untracked. Most skiers left, so we zigzagged almost whole descent on virgin snow. Snow ends ca 100m above forest, tour ended traditionally at Pr Železnik in Mojstrana.

On Friday 6.6. late afternoon my colleague and I headed towards Kredarica from Krma. On the lower part of the trail there's some climbing over fallen trees. Snow starts a bit below the shepherd's hut. In the fast-melting upper layers it's hard to spot previous tracks, trail and markers are still under snow. So we managed to stray off route once, adding some bashing through scree. Snow doesn't sink much, at least not at night. At 6am in short sleeves we set off for the summit. Steeper sections are clear, on flatter ones there's still about half a meter of snow, so ice axe and crampons still needed now.
