On Monday wife and I plan to Triglav via Plemenice. Curious about the path. Compared to Hanzova path to Mala Mojstrovka. Did that last week. Is Bambergova path harder than Hanzova to Mala Mojstrovka? Know it's twice longer, just interested in difficulty. And if snowfields, needed gear? Crampons, ice axe? Helmet know needed, maybe via ferrata kit. Thanks for answer

A via ferrata set is needed or each knows for himself at the start of the first cables, since then practically no more cables, more like scrambling. Can be like last week a bit icy from ZTP onwards or dusted with fresh snow. For ice axe and crampons probably not, but a bit more caution lp

Thanks for the answer. Hope there is no snow. Otherwise rather not go. Also interested in, how to say, technical difficulty. For comparison I'd put Hanzova path on Mala Mojstrovka. Know the path is longer. Fitness-wise no problem for us. Tomorrow weather should improve, so think if a centimeter of snow falls, by Monday morning there shouldn't be any more. Am I wrong? SVK always with us. And we'll use it at least at the beginning. Lp

Well if there is snow then we won't go. Sadly no time at all this year for this path. Weather terrible too. Barely manage to get vacation then weather screws us. Obviously same again. Really annoys me. But nothing we can do.

I was there last Sunday with kids on Bambergova. Take helmets, they don't weigh much but protect a lot (some). Self-belay kit with harness fully protects you, can't fall down cuz cable ain't interrupted nowhere. Teens and teen girl didn't complain, bit due to crowd at top. Descended via Prag to be home afternoon. No snow, tomorrow or today morning nice day for summit visit. I'd go again.

Just check the map a bit ... Say, from top descend to Dolič, then through Velška valley back to Velo polje and back at Vodnikov dom ... can't avoid that path part, cuz only one to Pokljuka ... from Jezerca down two options, direct to Rudno polje or via planina Konjščica .... so check map and let imagination play a bit .... Lp and safe step

On Wednesday (20.8) at 9 we were on the Triglav summit! Given the previous day's weather - nice to Vodnikov dom, cloudy at times.. to Konjsko sedlo light drizzle, higher pouring; we had no hope of seeing the summit at all. In Planika we were the only Slovenes, the rest were Czechs/Poles/Germans.. on Tuesday afternoon it apparently snowed on the summit, cables were icy, during the night strong wind.. in short, we had little chance for the summit! When we saw the next morning that the whole hut was going to the summit, we also decided to go towards the summit! The agreement was only that if it was too windy, we would turn back. Because we weren't completely dry from the previous day's shower. The team also had a colleague from Latvia. First time in the mountains, first time over 2000, first time on Triglav. Poles/Czechs were already returning from the summit when we were at Mali Triglav. They were still completely wet from the previous day.. hope no one got pneumonia later! Anyway.. we reach the summit, meet another hiker.. and he was also from Latvia! What a coincidence! The whole path from the hut to the final climb was in fog, but when we reached the summit - the sun appeared! It warmed us for 10 min, then it clouded over again! Quick photos for memory, quick down before rain catches us. At the hut we quickly take the backpacks and hit the road. 30 min before the parking lot on Pokljuka we were caught by a shower again. As much rain we had on the way, the sun rewarded us on the summit. Also, on Tuesday at 9 there was a helicopter at Vodnikov dom.. apparently for the keeper. Does anyone know more? Is she ok?

@jedriličar you're right, I have the map in front of me. Ascent and descent will be from Planika because we have female company with us who is of a more timid sort. Otherwise, we'll see on the path how brave our girls are Thanks and best regards, Vlado.

Too bad, what I suggested is really a nice loop tour, and the descent towards Dolič is no harder than the descent back to Planika ...

From the last photo I would ask where you climbed to be so equipped or where you needed all that?

@carniolus: that's just gear for self-belaying on secured paths

That's a "provisional" homemade SVK.

Well, it's not clearly visible, but to me this looks like a sling tied directly to the harness? In that case the fall would definitely end well, yeah...
|
|
|
|
| Žiga2226. 08. 2014 09:24:44 |
@Zebdi In this case if there was about two meters of fall, the sling would snap. If I see correctly, these are Dyneema slings made for static loading. When they did tests, the 60 cm sling on 120 cm fall snapped smoothly. If the sling held, it would definitely break the user in half. http://dmmclimbing.com/knowledge/how-to-break-nylon-dyneema-slings/ Now quick argue who is right and what we have to spit about. (as I already mentioned once, do whatever stupid things you want, but if you post pics, post ones where gear is proper and not provisional - to set a good example!)

Žiga22, I know, I know... that's why I wrote it that way. The blue one might be Dyneema, for the yellow I'm not sure - in any case they give a false sense of security. EDIT: @Juš: yeah, it's good that she's happy.. we wish her that. But we don't wish her a fall on such a "SVK"
