If from Latvia (which has highest peak just over 300m) she gets to Triglav top, she'll be happy for sure!

Recently somewhere photos were posted (our) people with full alpine exams who on very vertical secured path belayed with sling tied to backpack (instead of harness) then Dyneema with carabiner and another with two systems direct into backpack ring - really don't post such pics

On Triglav ascent belaying with sling can also be quite good, since even in fall there wouldn't be too much load, as the cable isn't run vertically anywhere. Especially on ridge part, such belay is totally fine. The secured part on Triglav can't be compared to real ferrata, where such belay can really be very dangerous, as there you can fall meters in air. Also the sling in similar human fall as shown in video with rigid body wouldn't snap. Rather it would break the human. Human isn't rigid body like log in video. In human fall the force ratio is quite different than in that test. Log absorbs no force, so after fall stays in original shape while sling snaps. In human fall human won't be in original state, as it absorbs quite some force, thus sling stays intact.

Keko is right, Triglav doesn't have crazy steepness. Still I advocate if we use gear, use it properly. Also instead of crampons we won't go hammering pitons into boots for easier snowfields, but use proper gear meant for that.

How this lady used and if she even used the sling, can't be seen from this pic. I think some of you have a bit too vivid imagination and conclude too smartly. If the Croat who fell from Triglav some time ago was secured at least with sling, probably no injuries. I certainly don't advocate homemade quickdraws either.

one smarter than other... what you have is better than nothing... in life you gotta improvise and use brains. Not like robot go to shops buy all they have because they told you you "must have". But how to use is another chapter. For Triglav, Škrlatica, Jalovec,...Krim...Kum...Ankaran you need only good will and clear head.

Wow, the discussion heated up. Here I'd ask what you recommend for protection...first time to Triglav. Since filming extensive film project (2-3 years), I'll take tripod, two cameras and some lenses. Link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8nIXi1JcrAM&list=UUy_ONOh8NsmxkvLtFKeCbGA Good condition, but not a mountaineer. So probably need climbing harness/helmet? Really ask for concrete advice or useful tip. Starting from Pokljuka. Start to top from Kredarica at three in morning to catch sunrise. Thanks.

Mandatory helmet, climbing harness, self-belay kit, bought or (CORRECTLY!) improvised. And of course mountaineering boots and good backpack to carry all gear up. Will add quite some weight just from lenses.

Did anyone go to Triglav yesterday 25.08? Wife and I planned, but morning 4 to 5 heavy rain here. So lounged more and around eight went to Raduha via climbing route. Curious daytime weather. Forecast bad. Looked cloudy all day. Fog no great fun. Hope weekend nice. Though don't believe good weather anymore.

With my son we went on Sunday morning from Pokljuka towards Kredarica. On the way we had everything: sun, fog, rain and towards the end to Kredarica already snow. In the afternoon it was foggy at Kredarica and the fog lasted the whole night until ten in the morning when it cleared a bit also on top. Ascent in the sun, nice on top too and then dry and sunny to Pokljuka where we finished the trail yesterday afternoon.

Tomorrow planning to go to Triglav. For a long time I've noticed that the weather forecast on hribi.net is totally off: http://www.hribi.net/vreme_gora/triglav/1/1 For tomorrow it shows rain, when I check the precipitation forecast on bergfex, there will be no precipitation, I also check ilmeteo and mountain-forecast, both show sun. ARSO also says it will be sunny tomorrow. So? Yeah I know, the weather will be ok, I just don't understand the forecast on hribi.net?

I never look at the weather on hribi.net, nor do the others I know here. Because it almost always shows wrong. So better check some other forecast when heading to the mountains.

Hi. Tell me how long it takes you from Pokljuka to Triglav? 6 hours seems a bit fast to me. Sure possible, but probably can't stop much in between probably

In the mountains I rarely look at the watch. The tour from Pokljuka to Triglav and back I easily walked in one day. I don't rush, in this case I took time for a longer chat at Planika, where an acquaintance was working, and I also had enough time for photography.

Marko - easily, and you can even go sr.t. Of course you need to have some fitness.
