To Triglav?

gorska koza15. 07. 2009 21:17:53
A promise is a debt and so yesterday my son and I "hopped" from Vrata via Plemenice to Triglav. Below Luknja "new" old fairly nasty scree, best bypassed on the left under the Wall (helmet!). Path and gear via Plemenice o.k., snow on western Triglav slopes still plenty, as sparrows tweet on valley roofs.
Over Triglavska škrbina to summit, three upon arrival, in under an hour well over twenty.
Descent to Kredarica then 15-minute slog through snow to Begunjski studenec and over Prag to Vrata.

That Plemenice path less visited this year confirmed by multiple chamois encounters, especially surprising family with this year's kids.

Triglavski: this time the Czech girls' footwear didn't interest you much - your gaze wandered everywhere else, huh?

What's the path like from Kot valley to Staničeva koča and on to Kredarica? How much snow is still there, are crampons and ice axe recommended?

If you haven't seen the area from Staničeva to Kredarica it's nicely seen on my picture no. 7, I think the picture is clear enough about the snow, definitely recommend ice axe, but not necessary that you need it.

Here I just called Staničeva hut, the warden nicely said that to the hut itself no problems, maybe one snow patch, to Kredarica still snow which visibly decreases every day, path to Kredarica well trodden - warden says

Dear Triglavski, just wondering if you'd be so merciful with me too, who happily empties pension wallet, and meanwhile rummages in hills and valleys in long pants, if you met me in sandals and with foresters on backpack? Humanly I totally understand you. Taste not bad either. And advice from graying hillwoman: if it grabs you to turn around sometime, go for it. You know: missed chance never returns.... We understand each other, right? Otherwise I read your comments with pleasure. Good luck!

Today we'll all nibble you a bit because of the Czech girls, it's a joke but no hard feelings.eek

Beauty of mountains is not fleeting! Those two Czech girls need mountaineering boots on feet not hanging on backpack. Triglavski totally understand you why not go "up" again, because of transience of beauty it really doesn't pay.nasmeh

I think Mr. Triglavski reacted to the mentioned situation completely professionally and manly correct. I probably wouldn't. Would immediately offer help carrying backpack, help changing into mountaineering boots and if wanted massage tired feet too... velik nasmeh

In the Kot valley there is still quite a lot of snow. To Staničeva you cross it several times but without problems. Caution is still not superfluous.

Obviously the picture from Kredarica scared you so let me tell you that at the very entrance to the wall right before the start of fixed protections you need to do ten steps over snow; that was last Sunday so question if after this hot week anything is left of it. All other snow in basin below Kredarica practically on flat part; rest outside marked path. Guaranteed no snow danger. Happy ascent.nasmeh
a few steps senga before entering the secured section of the path1

I'm interested in which tel/mob number to reserve sleeping at Planica hut or is it first come first served. I know no one sleeps outside hut. Does anyone have info on mid August sleeping situation. Thanks in advance for reply.
