Does anyone know what the conditions are like from the Savica hut past Triglav lakes upwards? Planning this weekend, info would be very welcome.

Above 1700m there is quite some snow, so this approach route can be quite demanding, and it's also not usual in these conditions and not trodden.
I recommend approach from Krma, which is winter classic and will be trodden. mežikanje

What about the path from Rudno polje? Can it be compared to the path from Krma?

This one is also rarely used in unprocessed snow. But it's longer than from Krma, although you start about 400m higher. eek

David from Savica hut or Planina Blato past Triglav lakes to Triglav is already a long tour in summer conditions, in winter I advise against it, especially towards Hribarice and then to Dolič there is probably quite some snow... if you're well prepared in summer you hike more than 4-5 hours, in winter you can multiply that by 2-3x nasmeh

as Franci wrote....Krma is the best choice for winter nasmeh

Yesterday afternoon start from Krma. Snow starts here, thickening to a good 40cm by the shepherd's hut. Path well trodden all the way to Kredarica, but routed differently than usual due to conditions.

In the morning first waiting for the sun, then slowly towards the summit. Conditions more demanding than a week ago, as the base kept changing, and on sunny sides ice crusts were sliding off rocks. Snow on the ridge was blown into real pyramids in several places.
On the way back I met quite a few hikers ascending to the top.

Today Kredarica was quite busy, conditions fully summery. smile
