PFranci, Mukica, you are incredible! Franci, at the right time in the right place and only with photographic knowledge can such photos be created! Mukica, congratulations to you too for such a cold feat and nice photos!

Congratulations to all, but the most touching among all wonderful photos was Franci's no. 20. Maybe because for me the moon sank into the willows above Bilje

I'm sorry exactly for this photo that I took it handheld and not with a tripod, because the wind kept moving me all the time and that's why it lacks proper sharpness. With a tripod one could do more.

Beautiful, clear Pelmo in the moonlight from Triglav, in company with Marmolata and Antelao, that would be a perfect hit. Once in 100 years.

Regarding winter conditions she probably meant low air temperature, not snow.

Except those three at the top we didn't meet anyone. Who would go in such weather. One of the tourists sheltered in the tower, it chilled him good, because wind lowers body temperature, many of you know who experienced wind power. Snow was smallest problem, ice axe and crampons you had no use for, the shower soaked all clothes completely, wind helped too. Lijaneja you are completely right. Different experience but still nice.

Crampons and ice axe are of no use if just a sample of snow. Where would you stick them?

.. Darinka congratulations to both, you wrote nicely. Who would go in such weather. Only experienced mountaineers can manage that. You and Lojze are the most interesting and most often photographed persons on top of Triglav this season. I'm glad I know you and you are both my friends.

Now, since due to the weather we are mostly grounded, I take the opportunity to remind of a fairly common, interesting, accessible to everyone but unknown to some upcoming astronomical event, which hardly fits this forum. In mid-May 2016 Mars will, like approx. every two years, come closest to Earth and make the characteristic so-called Mars loop. The phenomenon was observed in antiquity, but sadly they couldn't explain it, yet it's proof that Earth isn't the center of the solar system. 1. mid-April it will be an orange dot on the morning sky in the SW already bright enough to see with naked eye. 2. need to remember its position relative to bright stars nearby. 3. from then e.g. once weekly with outstretched arm observe how many "fingers" (e.g. one to two fingers) it moves left, toward east, relative to surrounding stars. 4. in April observe in morning hours, e.g. around 5 a.m., in following months earlier as it sets sooner. 5.closest to Earth around May 20, then Earth overtakes it and from then it will move right, toward west for a while relative to surrounding stars. 6.it will move right a few weeks more, after mid-July start moving left again toward east. Then loop tied, show repeated in two years. Best to observe from Triglav, so this forum is right after all. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kbynKfNfHk4 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=72FrZz_zJFU

Thanks blaz for the info. Based on my experience photographing constellations and related visibility, any slightly higher hill far enough from city light pollution will be suitable for observation, and Triglav here isn't anything special except for its backdrop. It has happened that stars were much more visible from lowlands of rural Styria than from Kredarica, as there are many other factors like humidity or other weather conditions (cold or warm air currents, weather before or after front etc., etc.)
