To Triglav?

'lino', you didn't skip history lessons as you write, my history teachers in the previous regime didn't tell many events from Balkan and world history either, just like now with left and right regimes that tried to hide some important part of Slovenian history from young generations, which is still not in primary and secondary school textbooks today. On the initiative of Franc Ekar, sent in 2008 to presidents of Slovenian state and government to erect a memorial to Mihajlo Pupin somewhere on Bled, there was no response from either. Sadly, Slovenia didn't erect the monument on Bled to the man who deserves credit for its borders, but Serbia as a gift to Slovenia. This year the presidents of both countries, Borut Pahor and Tomislav Nikolić, will unveil it.

The picture below shows the monument on Bled by Aleksandar Vlajković, with inscription in languages of two countries, Serbian Cyrillic and Slovenian Latin.

Redbull has his name and surname (Dejan Grm), so he has his own opinion and my respect. You sirt1 have neither name nor surname, so no own opinion and my respect.

Regarding Pupin, you just need to read some history book and Dejan correctly described his contribution to preserving Slovenian land. Regarding music in mountains, it's purely personal decision of each individual what to listen, I like best the song of our songbirds, which I could listen all the time I spend in mountains, as it calms me and awakens primal feelings of contact with nature and its inhabitants. That's all from me on the topic you raised and hope you'll conclude it with some pics on Triglav and nice memories of Saturday and Sunday, not with quarrels about Pupin.
One more for taubi4: read in your profile that you've walked most two-thousanders from 190s. I also set goal to walk all Slovenian two-thousanders, which there are over 500, some say even 750. On my list 550, walked about half.
These include unmarked paths, which are my greatest pleasure and challenge. So need to sweat honestly for the rest. Nice mountaineering greeting to all lovers of our mountains.

Look at this map.
Pink line London agreement 1915.
Red line Rapallo treaty (where Pupin participated)
We clearly see how much Slovenia lost with Rapallo treaty (where Pupin participated) compared to London agreement!

Click on Rapallo treaty.

This is official document and not some quasi....

'sirt1', once again: 'The Allies of course considered the opinion of the big brother from across the Atlantic and drew the Italian-Yugoslav border so that Bohinj, Bled, large part of Julian Alps with Triglav and Triglav Lakes Valley and Upper Sava Valley remained, also Kranjska Gora, Dovje, Gorje and Ribno as well as Bohinjska Srednja vas and Bohinjska Bistrica in Slovenia. When SHS delegation member dr. Dušan Ribarž learned of this decision, he reportedly cried from joy. To repay the patriot Pupin at least a little, two years later he proposed him for honorary citizen of Bled. In the minutes of the 10th municipal meeting on Sept 20, 1921 in Bled it says they named university professor M. I. Pupin honorary citizen of Bled municipality, "who has the greatest merits that Bled and Bohinj remained in their country".

So, according to you they should remove Pupin's monument in Bled, despite the fact that the witness of events in Paris, dr. Dušan Ribarž, cried from joy when he heard what all Slovenia got. And who knows, maybe they will really remove it someday, thinkers like 'sirt1', just like during the last war on Balkans they demolished monument of another prominent scientist.

Anyway, the topic is for historians on some other forum, mainly for people who experienced it firsthand and not here.

It's really annoying when you come to a thread opened in "Current conditions" section and hit one and a half pages of comments that have no connection to it. Exchange contacts, meet somewhere for coffee and debate it out. Really no need to litter here ...

On Sunday 6.12. to Triglav. Weather more than excellent. To the summit with crampons, which are necessary for safe steps.

Zadnjica - Plemenice - Triglav - Dolič - Zadnjica. Dry snow mix. Mulatjera partially snow-covered, after Stara Kugyjeva snow from hard crust that holds, to completely dry snow that sinks to the ground, even some almost crusty, better then from Plemenice on, where it was trodden down, on ZTP completely blown clean to old snow-ice base. Through gully under Škrbina mostly only old hard snow and ice, on slab quite usable track.

Descent via Dolič, mulatjera "under the wall" more or less snow-covered, crampons needed.

With a buddy I'd go next week from Krma to Kredarica and then to the summit. Is there any tricky bit that could cause problems?

@Igor ..... you old mountain cats can do such a tour to tease friends. We, to whom such ascents are accessible only in summer, admire the photos, sigh and think what beautiful views you enjoyed.

Yesterday (18.12.) from Krma to the summit. Conditions still not very December-like. Road to Krma gritted and well maintained. Path in the forest icy, higher up mix of compacted snow and bare ground. Turkish coffee on Kredarica with views. For the summit of course everything obligatory in the backpack, use as desired. Crampons useful in places.

I wanted to see him again, so we headed towards him. Staša was sunbathing on Kredarica, I went to him. Crampons in my opinion needed at least from the ledge onwards. Hard icy base. Descent to ZTP and visit to Alojz. He's very happy about visits. Returned via north path/Kugy traverse to Triglav glacier. Path extremely icy, recommend two ice axes, but not trekking ones, if anyone strays there by chance. Weather very favorable day.

"In what year would one hike the summer path to Kredarica in December? No idea."

Lojze is right, year 1988! Practically no snow and bare until end of January 1989.

Krma - Triglav

What could be better than a pre-Christmas visit to the highest in almost ideal conditions.
Snow left only a sample (mix of ice, snow and bare), fixed cables and pegs are out, crampons mandatory, ice axe more for personal safety. At first I thought I'd be first on top, but someone who climbed from Dolič surprised me and reported quite unpleasant icy section in Škrbina.
On Kredarica as always...pleasant gathering in the warm sunshine with excellent coffee nasmeh

Noon at Kredarica totally different scene: full terrace, helicopter in action and Santa visiting. View from the top to surrounding mountains and foggy sea below is unbeatable.
