When we went to Triglav a month ago with daughter, son couldn't join because he had flu. So I promised him we'd go at first chance, specifically on slightly more demanding variant than two years ago when first time up (classic Krma-Triglav). We went on Monday the 13th (supposedly Mondays in peak season on Triglav still least people), to catch Tower before renovation (cool to see the wonder, empty Triglav). We drive to Vrata, there a bit before 5 (at parking realize drove right behind lady collecting fee and slip past ). As expected, quite a few starting toward Očak. Past Dom and on plain step quickly, overtake some, admire Stena. Most go left, we at fork turn right toward Luknja. Along path to it gaze keeps drifting toward sunrise behind us. At Luknja windy as expected, don't linger. Initial climb warms us quickly, both in difficulty and views on slopes of Pihavec and Gamsovec (recall how in autumn met famous big ibex there and admired best view of Očak). First hikers, foreigners, overtake only during climbing parts (one cable torn and loose, nothing major). Then spot and admire ibex up close. At Sfinge glance over to catch live dizzy view now offered in Planinski muzej Mojstrana as tourist attraction with 3D glasses. On path over Plemenice didn't expect excessive crowd. Indeed, besides mentioned group of foreigners, till path junction with Dolič meet only one descending. From Dolič over Škrbina several more ascending, but compared to procession on main ridge, on this side still feel solitude. At summit arrive a bit before 9, there it ends of course, but luckily no cold shower like with daughter a month ago (flies...). Weather divine, almost no wind, wait in line to get photoed before Stolp, snack a bit, feed ravens and start deciding which variant to return to valley. Already at start knew won't spoil tour with standing in line on main ridge. So hesitated between three options: from Škrbina down to Pode, then either to Dolič and then to junction of mulatjera with Zadnjica and up back to Luknja, or via Kugy police to Kredarica (one of these two tempted us also because wanted to see if meet Mr. Žakelj at Triglav military hut); or from Škrbina left to Gorjansko to Planika and then cross path to Kredarica. Finally choose Gorjansko because seems to me greater enjoyment for little one. Path as usual loaded, crumbly (always need to watch not to trigger stones to someone below; that undercut part in upper half probably deeper every year), but really nicely winding, almost not worn and just right secured (noticed pulled-out peg at one spot so end of one cable hangs, but nothing crucial). On Gorjansko completely alone! At view of snake on ridge we laugh. Only completely below meet someone ascending over Planika from Krma who also smartly chose this variant. To Planika over scree still quite large snowfield which use for glissading. At Planika refill fluid supplies and then set off on cross path to Kredarica. At fork decide for upper variant over Konta and constantly look upward lest someone trigger stones on us. Cross screes and at lowest point run into snowfield. Due to steepness impossible to cross safely without gear. Can bypass it above via gully between wall and snowfield, or below under snowfield some ten meters down and then over scree back up. Decide for first. In gully find helmet (cracked and no longer safe, so leave it at Dom on Kredarica). During ascent to Kredarica decide to check out also the Cave. Over scree and fairly demanding terrain cross to it (that section disgustingly littered with various trash flying from Kredarica!), view it and then to Kredarica. On terrace meet and greet lady who sometimes serves us at Dom on Krim and stop at chapel. Then toward Vrata over Prag. Marvel at some foreigners completely improperly equipped and at strange hour barely dragging toward Kredarica. Use short scree to shorten descent a bit (so short don't know if shoe cleaning then takes more time than descent by path). En route overtake some foreigners having trouble with coordination on secured sections, note path due to traffic extremely worn out, watch at Medvedove skale and below it meet family of ibex right on path. Just as arrive at Bistrica surprisingly meet Mr. Žakelj going over Prag to Triglavski dom, and chat with him. Watch him a bit longer as he ascends slowly and carefree, then hurry to deserved ice cream and beer at Aljažev dom, where we arrive a bit after 3.
