Oh, please leave mountains to mountains and mountaineers and don't drag up there that coca-cola kitsch.

Yesterday Redbull already talked about the conditions, I'm attaching a video from yesterday's (26.12.2019) ascent to Triglav.

Interestingly written, except that whining about how you had to help someone and on top of that you were freezing...nasmeh

@dprapr
From the whole post, you only extracted that I was cold and whining. Fine... I survive that too mežikanje Although the message was meant a bit differently. If GRS needed to be called, there'd be another bunch of whining about where/how/why people push, where money is thrown, etc...

Nice evening to you too.nasmeh

"GRS guys" don't mention names of those they help. Publicly posting "to all Slovenia and beyond" that you were bringing someone (named) down from Triglav doesn't seem quite appropriate to me.
Everyone needs help sometime or will.

Lately there's a lot of stuff that doesn't belong in the mountains. Somewhere I saw naming someone who hesitates, who's slow, who doesn't know how to handle gear,..., a model. Whatever that means, I don't know, seems I'm aging and not following everything anymore. Still feels like respect for the mountains and those moving there is missing.

Otherwise great tour, nice clips that liven up the day in the valley.

You're getting old, maybe - but like good wine!
No need to accept new views and new morals on every issue.

And one totally serious question for the experts.
Why is a short ice tool with shaped handle for vertical climbing better for a moderate route like to Triglav than a classic hiking ice axe (or two if you like)?
Or am I old school with this question too?

Looks better in photos velik nasmeh Otherwise don't worry, they convinced me too come hell or high water that two ice axes are mandatory for Turski couloir and one is not safe at all... jezik

SamoK, if doing ascent now you can have regular hiking ice axe, but if going practically first or among first up then with one hiking ice axe you can just look from Kredarica how you could get up - for more it wouldn't do. Now no problem. Probably took the words right out of Gapij's mouthmežikanje

Dejan, with all respect to your feats (and I mean sincerely!) - so how did we back then traverse and climb even tougher stuff with plain straight ice axes? We didn't just dumbly stare waiting for tech to serve latest gadgets.
As some figured, my question was rhetorical. For hiking (which this is) short climbing ice axe with curved handle is worse option.
Anyone who's climbed vertical with straight ice axe knows why handles are curved now. But not for hiking!

Say, stopping with two ice axes, eh?

redbull27. 12. 2019 21:43:13
Yeah, no way around it, gotta sell the newer ice axes and get some old straight models.
Back then there were no computers, mobiles either - how would it look now without these two? Probably a living catastrophe.

Don't be ridiculous, come on!
You keep what you have. You master it anyway. (Again - dead serious!)
For the less skilled who will NEVER go climbing waterfalls or iced vertical walls, better not to gear up like Messner.
(Hinting that straight ice axes are outdated is also totally pulled out of thin air. Handle curvature has a clear function, handle shaping is mainly because climbers were sick of blisters on fingers. Again - nothing to do with walking!!!)

Cason, super description of the state of this ascent and all your others too.
I'm wondering, in what sense the older generation feels threatened by the younger's reports to the point that any praise always ends with some "but" (too many ice axes, wrong shapes, too fast, ...). Maybe a bit of that nice Slovenian trait present? velik nasmeh
