Congrats again to your youngest, didn't lag behind others at all, opposite. If I took my two (15 and 19) up and down one day, they won't look at me again.

Thumbs up for such dads and diligent daughters who knock off Triglav in one day, really not many such kids Bravo

jbs, if it's no secret, how old is the daughter? 7-9? I have a 4 1/2 year-old daughter and I'm waiting for her to join me on some more high-mountain [tour]... So far in the last year she has "done" e.g. Krn Lake, Slemenova Špica, Kofce, Kriška Gora (hut), Velika Planina, Blegoš, Notranjska hills etc. And she can't wait for cables and bare rock; where possible and safe, she already climbs rocks instead of paths

@brett she is 6 years old, but since birth every weekend in the hills, at three independently to Šmarna and similar little hills, then every year gradually 400m more elevation gain. The key is gradualness and consistency. In this way a 6-year-old gains perseverance, endurance, fitness, coordination and recovery that enables her to conquer Triglav independently in one day without excessive strain. The ascent to Triglav if divided into daily segments is no special problem for a small child, the bigger challenge is squeezing it into one day, as she needs to be fast and enduring enough to manage 2000vm in ten hours. Anyway the daughter has examples in older brother and sister whom I took to Triglav in one day at 7 years. My practice was to take all kids to Kredarica first at 6, next year to the summit. Well when we were all together at Kredarica this June the youngest wouldn't leave it and wanted to the top this year too. And I promised her we'd go in autumn just us two when the weather's good.

Jbs, bravo and congrats to daughter, met you a bit below Triglav, girl went up more confidently than many others on path. Could see she has lots of km walked already.

I sign, bos. If you miss preschool years you've missed all. Later they go their own way anyway. What you give them in youth you get back in old age.

I don't agree that if you miss preschool years you've missed all... Anyway it's good that the child (like many other things) is introduced to nature, hills, mountains then and builds development on it. Hats off to this family again and obviously controlled to avoid injuries they lead things and kids really enjoy. But personally in my family I don't practice this because day has 24h and week 7 days. Still I notice my kids at their age have plenty of mountains pulling them while gaining breadth in other life areas too. In short I think the bar for kids not necessary so high nor obligatory to overdo in preschool.

Bos, at me that about age holds... In good sense. Think at you no different. Just need to let go at right time ie "cut umbilical cord". MarkoS not meant only mountains but all else. When child to school much less with him others partly raise already. With high school entry have other company. Probably no more walk with parents. Agree more demanding ascents barely start with school entry.
