First I'd say our group also went to Triglav this weekend. Friday from Rudno polje to Kredarica then afternoon to summit. Path luckily empty, summit sunny nice views. In dusk at Kredarica. Next day Planika, Dolič, Hribarice, Triglav lakes valley, Štapce, Planina pri Jezeru where we slept. Sunday internal baptism for all first-timers on Očak then via Vogar to valley. Great. What to say? I hike a lot and am mountain guide. True lots improperly equipped, first-timers on such hard paths without safety and endanger self and others. What happens at Kredarica during peak Triglav visits is shame for Slovenian nation. Gotta bring all frustrations from valley to mountains and "treat" with alcohol up there? What's happening weekends up there not normal (all Saturday like that). Fully agree with LUKAPET comment. Need to do something to limit excessive boozing of people who endanger self and especially others who respect mountains and people. Not speaking how all vomited and "shitted" in hut and around!!!! Shame!

hi, I too was on Triglav yesterday, thank god via Plemenice, so we could enjoy at least till junction with Dolič path. There adventures started. Exactly as predecessors wrote, not speaking of drunk 'mountaineers'. Summit luckily no crowd. But way back to Kredarica ouch. Further via Prag endless huge groups of people yelling.... as if alone, not speaking of overtaking,... I can imagine what happens weekends in huts,.... I would BAN ALCOHOL SALE.... LP A.

On Saturday from Debeleg vrh I watched the swarming on Triglav. Crowd probably worse than escalators in Nama during sales. Brrr! Can't imagine what wonderful peace just a kilometer (air distance) away. On Debeleg saw 6 people, on Ogradih 2, in between 2 more.

Me too some 3 weeks ago on Kanjavec, met on summit only two mountaineers returning to valley, up there alone, peace, nice view, but could see towards Triglav full of people on ridge.

With colleague we did on Saturday the same path as mitch and because of crowd we could calmly skip Triglav, where "rulja" did its thing and descent to Kredarica dragged on because of that, not wasting words on uneducated people and partygoers. On descent over Prag it bothered me mainly that some husbands force their wives into mountains, when those in my opinion never climbed even some Smarna Gora in life. Worst is that some don't realize descending on pegs and cables is harder than ascending and then do it in fear or freeze. Also helmets people don't use, since for example on Prag very few had them.

When reading these posts I'm horrified and at same time happy that hubby and I were at top 12.8. No such crowd then, I avoid crowds if possible, but this weekend seems mountains were fully packed,... thank god, as I say it will calm down slowly and tourist hikers will stay in valley. Then peace for soul again. LP!

@Gorecan: Rudno Polje - Kredarica is 10.93 km. Due to the rush described above the ascent to Triglav was skipped, so data for that path section missing.

With all these problems that we can read about, I'm interested in the role and powers of the mountain police. Towards Kotliči from Kamniško sedlo a family was heading, two small children, no trace of any equipment or footwear, mom got a bit scared when she saw the policeman, commented; now he'll scold us so, policeman passed calmly by. Probably they didn't get that far. Second case on descent from Okrešelj, where there was a real crowd, family; again two kids, one about 4 years in slippers, slowly going down, which I fully understand, but they don't let anyone pass so as to at least move aside, let the column ahead, no, it doesn't occur to them, so you have to nicely ask to step a bit faster ahead. Such things I just don't understand and won't, once again I'm interested in what the mountain police does and what its powers are. Does anyone know the answer???

Mountain police? In Slovenia? You must be joking, right? It's just like in traffic: police occasionally(!) carries out actions (preferably pre-announced in all media), in which they check equipment and hikers. But they can't do anything! They can only warn! While abroad mountain police can already stop you in the valley if you're not properly equipped and forbid you the path, on the path itself they can even properly fine you. To fill up the measure, with us rescue is free ('why bother with equipment then') while abroad you pay handsomely for it. Of course insurances exist, but the question is how much they are valid in case of gross negligence. As for the first case you mentioned, that mom is a reflection of the true little-Slovenian mentality: safety isn't important but that the policeman doesn't say anything and that I don't have to pay. Policemen are the bad ones who mess with him and play their bureaucratic games while he can whistle at everything else. Just like I mentioned to one at work that on the way to work I try to stick to the rules as much as possible, she: oh, are there lots of police controls on the way! As for the second case, it's not so straightforward: actually it's hard to say really if you can move aside a bit so I can go ahead. On a ferrata and narrow paths it's of course a problem, otherwise I don't see it. I have no problems with it and often I'm even embarrassed if they let me pass so that I wouldn't be the one braking.

A policeman, GRS member, anyone really, can only more or less politely warn someone about inappropriate equipment. They can't and shouldn't forbid him from continuing the path. And if God forbid some accident happens, GRS can issue a bill for the rescue. In which cases they issue bills and whether those bills are also paid is another story

Saturday wonderful weather for the ascent to daddy. But unfortunately you have to pay a "toll" for nice weather too, attaching pics of how it looked on daddy on that beautiful Saturday, it just carried me to the neighboring Rž where wonderful peace and quiet reigned lp

Yesterday I came down from Triglav. Fantastic weather. We went from Pokljuka to Planika and then the same day to Triglav and back to Planika. Next day we descended to Dolič and on to Sedmerih Jezer then over Komna to Koča pri Savici. The tour was really very long but worth seeing.

Going to this Triglav is really pointless. We go to mountains for peace, not for problems.
