Proper clothing and footwear is a mirror of the mountaineer's spirit. To those who get into trouble with bad gear, I would charge heavily...

If gear affects safety, it's clear that everyone should have it. But pants probably aren't mandatory to be Salewa or some other established brand. It's important to feel good in them; probably many jeans protect just as well as hiking pants.

Jeans for "exceptions" in mountains maybe useful only in good weather for short walks, if we exclude cotton models cut just right for climbing (not binding from crotch down the leg); otherwise a cold thing and not quick-drying, in lower temps! LP-Rok.zadrega

Today via Luknja, Plemenice, Triglav, return via Kredarica and Tominšek path. At the top at 8:00 am a few cm of new snow, temperature 0 degrees or less. All normally passable, only on one smaller snowfield under the cleft over Prag caution is needed. The steel cable is torn, attached above to a piton, so you have to descend it like a rope, as the descent pitons are still partly under snow. Met two Slovenes on the path, the rest all foreigners. Looks like they like our mountains too.

On Saturday we plan to go via Planika to Triglav and on to Dolič. Interested about snow in this part. Thanks.

Since there are two paths from Dom Planika to the summit, you should be more precise. Well, I assume you'll go towards Mali Triglav and then along the ridge to the top. No snow there, but if you go from Planika via Gorjanska then the whole little valley and the very entrance to the wall towards Triglavska škrbina are still snowy. Down towards Dolič snow is only found in some hollow. Afternoon will be foggy around Triglav, possible thunderstorms.

From Planika to Triglav it's dry, on descent to Dolič there was still some small snow last week that could be bypassed.

This Saturday heading to Triglav from Vrata. Wonder if anyone knows if there's still any snow patch left on Tominšek path that needs crossing?
Thanks for answer.

In my opinion if there is any snow there it's just to refresh your face, if there's still some patch it's long trampled.

So obviously no more need to carry ice axe with me...nasmeh

Don Sergio, if going back the same path, I think it's mostly dry. Other paths require at least ice axe, considering cooling, hard snow! Otherwise for 600g ice axe weight, don't panic - different feeling if you have it - continue tour! Watch slippery rocks on Tominšek!, bring good pic and no complaints about glasses. Good luck and nice tour - Rok.nasmeh

Anyone know path from Kredarica to Stanič over RŽ? On web few descriptions, guides don't mention it. Forums have desc starting "I heard...", "they say..."! Want concrete info from mountaineer who went this way. Mainly difficulty and if can get lost or stuck (unmarked). Thanks lp

I know the path from Stanič over Rž to Kredarica, which is basically the same...
The path is marked and well signposted, between Rž and Kredarica there are wire ropes, but nothing difficult. The path is somewhat exposed, normal for the Triglav range, of course! Impossible to stray from the path. Time: 1 hour to 1 hour 1/4 normal walking. Last year we walked this path with 10 year old son, no problems.

atalesu: This Saturday, 19.7, I was on Triglav via Tominskova, descent via Dolič. The fixed protections are practically in perfect condition, the path is completely dry. One small snowfield is still below Kredarica, but it is not dangerous or you can easily bypass it. It is also dry on Dolič, winter gear is no longer needed.nasmeh

Hi folks, in two weeks I'm heading to Triglav from idk-what-military-barracks below Viševnik (been there).
and I wonder if someone knows the number of Dom Planika to register for overnight.
I think they accept even single hikers. So far we made it only to Kredarica but this time summit is ours, mine.
thanks

Attention!!
path Pokljuka - Vodnikov dom is closed. Use path from Krma towards Triglav!! Time-wise almost the same just more elevation difference (ca 300-400 m)
