Hello! Anyone this weekend from Krma to the top, what are the conditions? Thanks for the reply.

In these temperatures it was already an art to reach Kredarica. I turned back yesterday at kalvarija because it seemed pointless. Last week I was at the top but it was already critical due to soft snow; if we hadn't had a rope with us we wouldn't have gone to the summit. Although last week the night access to kredarica was excellent.. But during the day it's a different story. I think that ascent to the top these days is tempting fate... at least until it freezes or snows...

Today my friend and I left a bit after 5 from Krma towards Kredarica. To Kalvarija all OK, then suddenly it started snowing, fog closed in too. Fairly well frozen snow that was still breaking through in places - quite unpleasant. Due to such conditions we turned back, previously we had deregistered at Kredarica. Waiting for the next opportunity.

Classic spring tour. One has to get used slowly to crampons. From Zadnjica along the mulatiera to the snowy gully under Skok, then put on crampons, ice axe in hand and go. The gully is just still snowy enough that all jumps are covered, higher above the mulatiera there is also some ice. When the gully ends, I turn left and traverse along the old Kugy path to the "plaz". Follows a slightly monotonous ascent, which with nice views of nearby mountains passes quickly. Follows a somewhat steeper traverse, which in the middle is also icy for a few meters and I'm already in the cirque under Morbegno. If not today I tell myself, never, and immediately turn right and up to Vrh Zelenic (2468), which have been within reach countless times. I look around a bit, take photos and descend back to the snowy cirque under Morbegno, follows a short ascent and I find myself on the plateau. The "host" of course isn't there, that sign on the door "back soon" is also quite relative. I go on across the plains and up towards Bovška škrbina. The first part is more or less rocky, the gully under the "škrbina" is nicely filled, the continuation along the "plate" is more rocky than snowy, only the last summit part is snow again. That the snow held well the whole ascent probably doesn't need emphasizing, as it froze overnight. At the top there are already two who came up from Kredarica. Short chat and soon after them I also leave the summit. Of course I return down towards Dolič, snow slowly giving way, I go along the winter passage, check the hut condition, which looks in good shape and crampon-slide into the snowy cirque under Dolič, then put crampons on again for the more exposed traverse. Lower I take them off and slide down towards Komarju. All gullies to the "balvan" are still under snow, otherwise there is also some dry trail. Nice circular tour in complete pristine solitude. For me the nicest ascent. Happy holidays.

What was done to the tower is really not praiseworthy, pity that some behave like that towards heritage that has been resisting weather for 100 years. I was up there in winter too but it didn't occur to me to walk on the roof. Happy holidays from me too and safe steps to all. best, Stanko

Obviously they mistook the roof for deckchairs.. Even here the reckless ones are already showing up... Igor, as always nice trip and description. Happy holidays to all with wishes for nice weather so we can burn off the goodies.

If the tower was safe in a museum nobody would worry about those reckless ones. But now they are destroying Aljaž's heritage. Whose fault is that?

If we wanted to put all heritage safely in museums we'd need quite a few museums, the problem is in people and in the culture of behavior in the mountains, and not only in the mountains but everywhere in public life .

Look a couple of pages back, some are even pictured sitting on the tower!

I'll say it like this. Yes, they wanted to move the tower to a museum and with the recent events up there, where some literally vent on the Slovenian symbol, I'm slowly starting to agree with that. What do we need the tower for on top of Slovenia when most don't respect it at all. Suddenly someone will make a hole inside and everything will be destroyed. So I think it would be better off in the museum than to see it in a couple of years on top of Triglav all battered. I don't know, I'm still of two minds where it should stand, but slowly I'm leaning towards the museum. Whoever damages it in any way (even if it's a replica up there), let them slap a high fine, although no money can outweigh this greatest Slovenian symbol.

Aljaž built the bivouac on his own land at his own expense so that it would be known forever where our homeland is.. And now some want it somewhere else for completely different - materialistic reasons, by no means patriotic or any respectful ones. One must respect the will and intent of the owner.

Woooow, Igor, bravo - fantastic, bold, and even a bit enviable ! And sadly, with a somewhat bitter aftertaste for those true patriots!

Foreigners or not foreigners, that's not how one behaves in the mountains and such people have no place with us, nor anywhere else in the mountains. But who can prevent them from doing whatever comes to mind? Many go to the mountains to build up fitness, they rush upwards because of personal records, without noticing even a single flower, hearing birdsong or a beautiful sunrise or sunset. They don't respect the laws of nature and its inhabitants. Such people have been, are and always will be. Maybe it would at least partially help to not scold someone we see doing inappropriate things but teach them that it shouldn't be done. Perhaps the person would reflect and start thinking differently. I hope at least it would be like that. I'll try it at the first opportunity and risk that the person might tell me something rude back. Good luck to all who will set off to our king of the mountains.

Ouch ouch, tisa. What's inappropriate about fast walking and what does it all have to do with destroying Aljaž Tower?

I think all that, including the destruction of Aljaž Tower, belongs to disrespecting the mountains and their heritage. Obviously I didn't express myself well. There's nothing wrong with fast walking and running in the hills. I wanted to say that some see only the goal and don't have the right attitude to other things, so what happens happens, not just with Aljaž Tower. Good luck anyway.

How hard it is to read your lines that have nothing to do with mountains, Igor every other day or wherever he goes pictorially and verbally conjures up on this forum how divinely beautiful nature is and keeps emphasizing words - wonderful, pristine, solitary.. and only a few really see and feel it, what he feels when he's up there. Here I read about hooligans, foreigners, everything bothers us, YES IT IS, I agree with you that some touch things they shouldn't, but it is and will be, not only in mountains, arrogance is present everywhere. Jakob Aljaž built the tower with all love for the mountains and his homeland on top of Triglav and was proud of it, we too must be like that and let it remain so, best regards
