Oh no "need/don't need", given that 100kb of data is no extra weight, it doesn't matter if you have a track or not. But isn't the approach description an instruction on how to follow someone else's tracks?

No, it does matter. Description is guidelines, key points. Track is actually someone's step by step. Read the last sentence again. If for Rutarska Ponca you need a track, stick to the marked ones. Or go with someone who's been there and knows the VD area. That way you'll enjoy without staring at the screen.

I agree with Juš. then you experience someone pushing somewhere it doesn't go, you politely ask where he wants to go and show him where it is, he yells back at you that his track shows that way. even if straight into the abyss, because the track says so.

@ljubitelj gora: Thanks for the kindness, if all goes well I'll go (not alone) tomorrow, if you happen to have time, let me know. Jus and ZeK, next time when I bang my head against the wall staring at my phone, I'll remember your advice Best regards and hope we meet sometime in the high mountains.

Until 10am Dnina is in shade. At that time you're already descending? And at 12pm at the hut with cold beer

I don't know why everyone grinds that red gully, when there's such a nice passage below a bit above the bivouac and then steady ascent along the ledge to the path junction under the summit structure. Next time go along the ridge to Veliki Oltar instead. It's much nicer than digging up scree to MMP.

If I stand at the bivouac, will I see this nice passage looking towards the VMP summit? If not, please give a bit more detailed description, especially of the path from the summit to the bivouac. Thanks! Best, M

I usually choose like this to avoid scree.

I used that red one sometimes for descent, for ascent right of yellow along the ridge at red collapsed scree. As I see, there's now an even bigger collapse.

And that was even before you learned to walk on water?

I only knew the path by the red line, that scree will need trying sometime, didn't even know about it

Dejan. Slow down a bit and look around when you're in the mountains and you'll notice lots of approaches here and there. Ascent direction counts as time spent on the tour too. You'll see over the years you'll calm down and take mountains differently. Congrats on your achievements anyway.

Mangart up there really no need to freak out, was with dad so that track didn't come to mind. More practical in winter
