Well, our planina is really beautiful! If you're properly shod, dressed and curious, you ride the cable car up high. You take a very nice walk in the sun, enjoy nature's beauties, chat with passersby and fully recharge your batteries for the next work week. So much for non-skiers and non-sledders! Welcome to the mountain paradise!

If anyone has been in the huts... do they have sockets up there?

Some have electricity, some don't. Anyway you go for relaxation away from civilization "brains to pasture", so you don't need a socket!

How is the ascent from Volovjek? Is the path trodden? Or do you need winter gear for Velika Planina?

I went from Stahovica. 10 days ago the lower part was icy. Towards the top it's a nice path. Also from Volovjek it's not demanding. To Mala Planina it's one and a half hours' walk. Winter gear (ice axe and crampons) is not needed on this path. For the more sensitive, small 4 or 6 tooth crampons (if accidentally icy) come into play, like everywhere else in the mountains. Nice path - in sunshine suitable recreation also for young enthusiasts - but it's very nice up there - snow about a meter and a half

Sometimes in the mountains we can't find what is in the modern world, but we have lots of what isn't in the valleys.

I see that it was really nice on Velika Planina on Sunday. The day before there was a strong wind blowing, clouds covered the sky and we were freezing. Of course, you need to experience that too. LP

It was really super, the consequences of strong sun and too little sunscreen are still visible today

I'd agree that it's a very nice planina and a nice trip - also in winter - from Stahovica or from Rak for those who don't like long hikes. I was there on a weekday last month. But is the crowd different on the weekend?

Yes, I could say it's quite visited on weekends

In nice weather, it's already visible by the parked cars that there are lots of visitors. When walking, you discover the Velika Planina phenomenon: Lots of people, no real crowds, as we spread nicely over the whole planina.

LP Today I went to Velika from Kalcit, past Primož to the top of Velika. Weather wonderful, warm almost no wind (here and there blew a bit stronger), snow starts at Pasje pečine (mandatory crampons there!!) Snow ideal for ski tourers, soft and compact. A bit flew over Velika pl. to zeleni rob, without horde of people, not like weekends, well three were there. A bit sunbathed and back down. Enjoyed Grega

This is how it was this morning on Velika Planina, wind blowing like hell, otherwise still plenty of snow and frozen, so no problem for ski touring.

In Velika Planina is slowly waking up, although it was quite cold towards the top - Gradišče on Saturday, and quite windy, but the plateau was still fairly visited. On the way to Gradišče we didn't meet anyone, because of the thaw it was sinking in some places up to 'tazadnje'. And some more pics, one clearly shows the avalanche on Planjava. Cheers.

Spring is already coming to Velika Planina too, this was yesterday, too warm for this time of year, very southern.
