Tomorrow morning we would like to go with our group to Velika Planina, specifically via Kranjski Rak and Mala Planina to the hut near Zeleni Rob, which we have rented. Maybe someone knows how it is with plowing the road to Kranjski Rak? We called the guesthouse but no one picks up. Thanks and best regards

They plow the road to Kranjski Rak, further you'll go on foot, plenty of pleasures in the snowy idyll, I'm going next week again but now with touring skis.

Today in the afternoon it was plowed all the way to the parking lot - Ušivec. We went from Kranjski Rak - fog in the valley, on top blue skies and sun...

Is the path from Stahovica via Sveti Primož trodden? If trodden, we'll go tomorrow with mates, bit awkward none of us been up, glad for any info - avalanche-prone, slip hazard anywhere...

Checked the path in the book "Winter Ascents in Slovenian Mountains", so not completely unprepared

Path is trodden, no need for crampons or ice axe. Better snowshoes or touring skis, else doomed mainly to walking on trodden paths. Be careful mainly on Pasje Pečine or where you see the blue man's path. There is 500m of such path by the cliff, nothing risky. The rest is simple as beans. Only the path drags a bit if going to Velika Planina (gostišče zeleni rob). Maybe go rather to Črnivec then to Kranjski Rak, leave car there, walk the road. At the first junction go right, there the road is closed and further on the trampled path by the first houses to Mala then to Velika Planina.

Many thanks for the tips! I forgot to mention that we won't go on the marked path past Pasje Pečine because it can be dangerous there in winter, but on the unmarked winter path that goes (also from Stahovica via Sveti Primož) past Pirčev Vrh to Dom na Kisovcu. Do you know the condition of that path?

I wouldn't describe the path over Pasje pečine as anything risky, in case of a slip you can quite nicely slide into the gully so... but they can be elegantly avoided. Instead of going left into the traverse, go straight up, where you gain about a poor 100m of elevation, and on the other side descend to the junction with the path from Pasje pečine. According to my memory this part is also marked and definitely safer. If you don't know the summer path over Pečine then, that's my opinion, definitely safer by the other variant. Best, B
