Today I went to the Tadej area. From Ljubelj over Mala glava to Vrtača, to Srednji vrh and back via Zelenica to Ljubelj. Nice autumn hike with exceptional views. On Vrtača a few hikers, otherwise very quiet.

Yesterday perfect day for visiting mountains. From Ljubelj, Dom na Zelenici and then Vrtača. Autumn colors, hot like summer and sky without clouds. In one word...magnificent

Sunny day attracted a bunch of visitors to Zelenica and a few of us climbed to Vrtača via SE ridge from Suho rušje. The path is clearly visible and some cairns help with orientation. With some easy climbing and crossing several gullies we climbed to the forepeak. On the main summit there were crowds of people, while my friend and I enjoyed the forepeak. Has anyone been to Vrtača recently, I'm interested in snow conditions in the Y gully, is the jump filled?

Yesterday 30.1. we headed to Vrtača via Leva grapa and descended via the left branch of Y gully, conditionsnasmeh good especially in Y gully, where steps have been mademežikanje. Then we descended back to Zelenica, the hut unfortunately closed and then via Begunjska Vrtača we also went to Begunjščica from Begunjščica descent via central gully and back to the carmežikanje.

Today it would be a shame to miss this nice weather, and we headed to Vrtača via the excellent Y.
We know the conditions on the path to Zelenica, further on wading 10-20 cm, somewhere hard base, from bushes onward on the left side super icy conditions, entry to Y a bit crumbly snow at the start, then super conditions to the top. On the top a fairy tale. Descent the same via Y, and back to Zelenica, where the hut was open today, and full of visitors.

Today on Vrtača via Y and descent via south gully. Quite a while since anyone went this route, no tracks. Despite early start south-facing snow, probably best in Y. South gully surprisingly firm and scoured by avalanches. Path from Zelenica on mostly still snow-covered.

Yesterday 2.5. from Tinčkova via Šija saddle to Slovenska and summit. Valleys below Šija compact, further hollow in spots but passable snow. Path in steep grass well pegged and solid overwintered. Snow patches in basin at safer path junction to ridge we'll deal with deep into summer mežikanje
Full winter gear stayed in backpack, ice axe 3x within reach...

Hi, on Tuesday I plan to do the route from Ljubelj via Zelenica to Vrtača. They say you can go from Vrtača to Stol.
How much time from Vrtača to Stol, difficult for people without climbing skills? nasmeh
