Today I looked from Stol towards Vrtača, no snow visible on the path. Definitely some in the upper part of Vrtača, which usually doesn't cause problems. It persists in the last part of the path towards the saddle.

silvo1952, beautiful photos, I also viewed your longer post on gore-ljudje and especially the flower bouquets impressed me, even more beautiful there. Additionally one thing interests me: on picture 16 gentian very strong beautiful color, could be as you wrote rusty gentian. Did you check underside leaves and identify? If leaves distinctly shiny leathery, bare edged and yellowish-brown from glandular scales, identification spot on, else hairy gentian.

Sadly neither checked nor have botany knowledge and mix-up possible. I allow mistakes naming photographed flowers. After all both rusty and hairy gentian delight hikers, right?

Beautiful and beautiful again. You recreated my path two weeks ago. Really Vrtača true botanical garden. Pinks smelled whole way. Missing one flower maybe didn't notice. Large stand - black crowberry. Lp!

If you returned down the marked path, across the notch to Stol, i.e. the saddle, then a few minutes along the path. Before you reach the pines there was a little sea of them. Lp!

We went to Šija saddle and so we weren't at the growing site. Maybe next year.

Yes, you definitely passed them by, but they are smaller than some grasses, so you have to be more attentive. Lp! Last year my husband and I went to Stol from Tinčkova hut, then returned via Šija to Završnica. Beautiful solitary path. Lp!

Well, thanks garmont for attaching the photo. They would still bloom this weekend too. So someone writes that I'm misleading .... Sad if someone thinks that's my intention. Lp!

Yesterday up Left gully, down Southern valley. Conditions fantastic. Icy and hard from start to finish. Entry on left side of scree. All exit variants nicely iced up. Southern one well trodden.

For International Mountain Day, today queen Vrtača via Y couloir. Conditions unique, "squeaky snow" starts already at Ljubelj, but since I really don't feel like copy/paste today, whoever is interested in conditions can find the description here. >> Read conditions description << P.S.: video at the end of the post in the link.

Hi 26/12/2019 - Vrtača up Y and down J gully. Started from Ljubelj, stopped at the hut on Zelenica and asked a bit about conditions. From the hut there's a nice track and all path junctions are completely clear, so I reached the top of the avalanche debris without issues. Towards Palec the path is visible, but today I saw no one who climbed it. SE ridge of Vrtača they were probably walking today, at least I saw people on the ridge before heading to Y. Left variant doesn't look trodden, it's also more in the sun. For Y you need to climb about 100m on scree to reach shade. When you reach snow it's hard as concrete, standing on crampons, ice axe goes hard into snow. There were some people ahead of me. Some realized one ice axe won't do and turned back. I chose the central branch and exited to the ridge where sun greeted me. There were quite a few people too, apparently some really came via the ridge. On sunny ridge conditions super, snow hard so I hurried to the top. Apparently right part of Y is also filled, as some exited the gully to the saddle between summits. Descent via J gully, where it was collapsing, sliding and I felt a bit sorry for hikers climbing where everyone was descending. In lower part visible some avalanches went. Then along firm track back to Zelenica. CORRECTION: Up we went via Left gully. I'll leave original message as is.
