I join the congratulations for the BD. Hribi.net really is a fine thing. For me, as a lizard in mountain hiking, this portal is an invaluable source of information provided by more experienced hikers. Together with the information from other mountaineering portals, it provides invaluable help to plan safe ascents matching my experience and abilities.

Thanks, hribi.net, your path descriptions are must-reading for every tour. Many nice spots I discovered thanks to your help. I would have one suggestion, if possible. To sometimes specify time-wise approximately how far it is to that bend, sharp right or left. Such an example is zapornica Belca - Visoki vrh over Bašinov breg. Because the road drags on after every bend, you expect that turnoff and think you've already missed it. No offense, it's just a suggestion, maybe this information would be useful to someone else. In the future, I wish you much success in discovering new paths in our wonderful mountains.

pikica1, neither the ads that bother you so much are the original topic of this discussion. JusAvgustin, who on 12.12.2010 opened the thread titled "What's happening...", griped about all kinds of nonsense that folk posts on the forum, as well as bad manners and intolerance of some... Since then, a whole bunch of other topics have appeared here that have nothing to do with the original topic. From complaints about ads, remarks on inappropriate categorization of ascent difficulties, questions about uploading photos.... I haven't reviewed all of them. But I think there's no great harm if the topics here are a bit mixed up. After all, this is just the "Misc" section. More important to me is that where current conditions in the mountains are discussed, things are accurate and posters mostly stick to the topic.
Regarding annoying ads: regular cookie cleaning (deletion), installation of some ad-blocker (e.g., Adblock Plus), and use of tracking protection (an option enabled by IE) help. It is true that because of all this, some sites won't work properly (Bolha is already one such). Despite all this ad protection, some ad will still break through to the screen. Sadly, ads are also a necessary evil, as they enable the operation of sites like Hribi.net. And if they advertise some piece of mountaineering equipment, they can sometimes even be useful. No hard feelings.

Yes, ads, ads.... As long as it's somewhat within normal limits, it's still okay. Lately it's really annoying to follow Hribe, so many notifications keep showing up on it. I don't know the full background well, why ads have to be there and to what extent, but probably the admins could make the forum more user-friendly.

I also realize that ads are essential for the survival of this portal and of course that the authors want to earn something too. All good and right.
But now they're really going overboard, to the point that they're annoying and interfere with normal use of the portal. That's the line where users start questioning the point of sticking with it, especially if there's an alternative.
The authors are lucky that our little country is small and two such portals would hardly survive which gives the portal perhaps some kind of silent monopoly. But only for mountaineering and trips within our borders and not completely or less and less (hence the word 'perhaps') because even on foreign portals due to Slovenia as an increasingly popular mountaineering destination there are more and more descriptions of mountains, trails and other topics related to our mountaineering.
As for mountaineering and destinations abroad, the competition is practically endless and also better which is understandable since it's mostly portals specialized in one type of mountaineering or one area or country.
The portal is saved by the quality and richness of content. As long as it's like that maybe there's really no need to worry about it. The authors or owners must weigh it for their own good and keep the balance.
And one more thing, someone mentioned renovating the PZS portal. Just not that here please (except maybe refreshing the somewhat archaic design, without changing sections and functionality). 90% of portals, both mountaineering (e.g. klettersteig.de or bergsteigen.com) and others (e.g. siol.net) are worse after renovation. For some the renovation (just in combination with aggressive ads) was even fatal (zurnal24.si e.g.).
Aggressive ads are already one black mark, please don't add any more because it could be the last one.

We will soon add the HTTPS protocol where this warning won't be.
Newer browsers show a warning if the website uses HTTP. With HTTPS, data is encrypted; with HTTP, not.

On Hribi.net page webcams from whatsupcams don't open for me, saying to install Adobe Flash, which is installed and updated. On whatsupcams.com it opens and works without problem.

Hribi.net Portal…
We have become "addicted to Hribi.net". You post or just peek at this page when searching something, we are all dependent. Lots of interesting sections are open, lots of things written on this forum; from path descriptions, difficulties, ratings, photos.... Lots of different posts, praising and negative. Positive and negative energy intertwine all the time. Everything gets on some people's nerves, even individual posts; grammar mistakes bother them, yet everyone can read what they like.
Tadej and Rok, sincere thanks for getting everything back on track, if there's a need to contribute for costs just write.
