I'm just waiting for someone to ask if you can take a dog on Via Italiana, Via della Vita or Cjajnik. And then no one will say that he's already been there with it. Because there they can catch you and punish you!

Ugh, we have a few exceptionally bright ones here. Stop with your educational statements and take a book in hand instead - to avoid dementia and to calm yourself - both in words and actions. No place here for such people. Here people ask for some experience and some advice and nothing else.

Well, let that German Shepherd owner who was on Jošt yesterday report (if he happens to read this). The dog ran towards us at such speed on the path ... How I felt in those seconds when it ran towards us, I won't say. The dog of course jumped on me, not on my friend, who isn't so afraid of dogs. The owner was in the woods, so I didn't see him. I didn't say (read: yell) anything to him either, because simply in that moment I couldn't get anything out. I just had to write this. But the rest don't need to comment much, so no too harsh debate develops - again.

For some owners (I emphasize SOME i.e. about 10%) only a psychiatric hospital would help.

SAURIS/ZAHRE - MONTE PIELTINIS,2027m - MONTE MORGENLAIT,1975m Princess and I finally waited for the end of the holiday crowds and somewhat bearable temperatures, so on this lovely day we drove to beautiful Sauris / Zahre. I parked at the end of the village Sauris di Sopra, then we walked through the village (wonderful architecture) and up the initially asphalt and higher gravel road (marked trail no. 204) to the saddle Sella Festons, 1860m. There we rested a bit, then took a few steps back and headed to mulatiera no. 206, which took us along the southern slopes to the top of Monte Pieltinis. The views all around were breathtaking, full of peaks with mysterious names like Tiarfin or Clapsavon, not to mention Cridole, but the sea wasn't visible, although it should be on clear days. Sitting on the top did us so good that we reluctantly headed down. We walked down slowly, and to not let the day end too soon, we climbed for good measure also to Monte Morgenlait, which the Stritarjevi in Karnijskih potepanjih nicely named Dawn Peak. At the end we strolled a bit more through the village, then it was time to say goodbye. The icing on the cake I put in Villa Santini, where I paid for a macchiato coffee, a glass of mineral water and a small croissant believe it or not 1.60 €.

VAL PESARINA: Sostasio – Luch – rifugio Talm (P, 1093m) – Monte Talm (1728m) Val Pesarina is a wonderful valley in the Carnic Alps, Sostasio is a village along the main road that runs through the valley and where you turn right to the hamlet Luch and rifugio Talm is a hut (closed), which you reach from Luch and park next to it on the arranged parking lot. Note that the road from Luch up is very narrow and very steep, very similar to the one to San Simeone, but about half shorter and partly gravel. From the Slovenian capital to the parking lot it's over 200km or 2 ½ h drive. Like last Saturday, princess and I also dedicated this to discovering and getting to know the dear Carnic Alps, its valleys, villages, hamlets and of course hills and mountains. From hut Talm we continued on the steep road (dirt road) and higher (signpost) turned right to a hiking path similar to mulatiera, marked with number 226. The path is wonderfully laid through the forest, every now and then you "step out" to enjoy wonderful views all around. The weather served us perfectly – it was fresh, sun shining and visibility almost to the horizon and beyond. We literally drank in the beauties offered at every step and soon spotted the cross and bell on the top. There we indulged in what you do on top, each recharging batteries in their own way and then slowly, really slowly headed back to the valley. The descent wasn't any less adventurous than the ascent, princess meanwhile dreamed a verse or two, because in the valley we took time to see also villages Prato Carnico (tilted bell tower) and Pesariis (village of clocks, sundials on facades, ...) and were very satisfied with what we saw. And experienced. On the late night walk, already home, we agreed it was another doggone beautiful day behind us

WREATH ABOVE SORIŠKA PLANINA Last Saturday, which pretended to be more spring than autumn, princess and I used for a trip around the peaks above Soriška planina. It was, how to say, intense. Very intense, in all respects. No livestock grazing anymore. No snakes despite the warmth. And crowds, the annoying ones, none either. Since we can't and can't become friends with the camera, it stayed home. I photographed with the phone and found it's easier to photograph with phone than to call with camera ! Great day ! A bit more in pictures and words at: http://tubojan.blogspot.com/2012/10/vencek-vrhov-nad-sorisko-planino.html

I'm new on the forum. Biggest thanks to turbo and MajiO for nice reports and new ideas. Keep it up and don't get involved in pointless debates (I see there are quite a few). Tomorrow I'm heading somewhere on a trip with my racer (Ajko) and wonder where approx the snow line reaches.

Can anyone advise if the path to Stegovnik below the summit, where we cross the exposed ledge by the fixed cable, is safe for a Bernese mountain dog? Today on Virnikov Grintovec we had no problems. Thanks.
