There are quite a few paths around there suitable for dogs, at least judging by what I've walked. Via dei Monti Lariani is ideal in my opinion even for dogs not really used to hills. Also Erna, maybe with the cable car to the top. Otherwise Grona, Bregagna, for really mountaineering dogs even e.g. Grigna via normal route (e.g. past Baita Bogani) or some of the more hikeable paths.

Please help me... On Friday I'd go on a trip with a 7-month-old dog, where distance is more important to me than height, because I'm slowly getting him used to hills. But I'm a bit short on ideas where... I'm from Velenje, but no problem driving an hour away (for info) Any idea, suggestion? I love solitude, forest, nature,... Be nice D.

Animals I met in Luxembourg and near Lüneburg Heath: https://simsoneblog.wordpress.com/zivali-ki-sem-jih-srecal-v-luksemburgu-in-okoli-luneburske-resave/ Where with a dog? Little Luxembourg Switzerland and Lüneburg Heath (Lüneburger Heide) are ideal for walks with four-legged furballs, family walks with kids,... There are many walking paths in both areas and they are nicely arranged and marked. Warning only for some rock formations in Little Switzerland, where a claustrophobic creature might have problems in a narrow passage - some (rare though) are such that you can't avoid them if you want to continue on the path.

Around the lake?...A bit of joke, a bit of truth. At 7 months hills are not OK yet. Especially if it's a breed that reaches 20+ kg. Start with smaller hills. Maybe Lovrenc Lakes, maybe also Ribnica Hut. That Goblin Path on Rogla is not demanding, or Mozirje Grove (dogs have free entry). Descents are problematic, running downhill is problematic. In larger breeds even walking. Until growth is finished, then gradually. I would tell you to go to Rahtel, but it's too steep for a young dog.

Definitely not to Kal. There they won't let you into the hut even if it's raining. Apparently they have something against dogs, when they let me into every hut with a small dog. Everywhere except there. Better avoid it if you don't have to go exactly there. Shame, as the mountain and the path up from Hrastnik is fine.

It's nice to have "luck on a leash", so you don't lose it in the deep leaf litter (Buchkopf - Testa di Malborghetto)

This thread has been idle for a long time. With my two tail-waggers (one is now retired and only does shorter and easier hikes) I've covered more than 150 two-thousanders, on demanding paths, off-trail, steep grass..., so I have plenty of mileage and experience. If anyone's interested in which trail/hike is or isn't suitable for a dog, get in touch, happy to advise and help. Good luck.

Polona, if with dogs you ever venture across the border too (mostly Carnic Alps), my blog has plenty of ideas for outings with furry ones. From easy marked paths to demanding off-trail, even easier secured paths we've managed. Now slowly reducing length and difficulty, as princess turned 15. http://tubojan.blogspot.com/

Animals I met while rambling in the Bavarian Prealps. https://simsoneblog.wordpress.com/zivali-ki-sem-jih-srecal-na-pohajkovanju-po-bavarskih-predalpah/ There are many dog-suitable paths there, as it's mid-altitude where easy and moderately demanding paths predominate, very demanding ones are fewer. Wendelstein, Blomberg, Krottenkopf, also Rotwand, of those described here are definitely suitable. Aiplspitz, from Jägerkamp direction, if you leave the dog tied just below the summit (good half hour there and back). The ridges somehow are not suitable, Heimgarten and Herzogstand as standalone hikes, yes!

Princess's 16th birthday time flies, says nothing. Last September we were at Monte Puintatu and Modrič (Monte Madrizze, Madritschen), her last mountain outings, and in October still a walk along Strada Napoleonica. The restrictions that followed didn't bother princess, years did their thing and she didn't miss mountain rambles. Longer walks were enough to maintain fitness, which showed at the end of this February when we did a nice outing in Sečovlje salt pans. Then finally time for dog retirement and rest came. Blind and deaf, even demented, she still masters garden and house perfectly, nearby streets too, but restless in dog crate, so we only go to chiropractor and vet visits. If the garden was once too small for her, now it's just right to stretch well several times a day Princess running in the garden
