Großer Bärenkopf is 3396 meter high peak located in the High Tauern mountain range. The peak is located 9 km east-southeast from the center of Enzingerboden and 12 km northwest of Winkl. The nearest mountain hut is Schwarzenberghütte, located 3km east. A bit closer is bivouac Gruberscharten-Biwak, which is located 0.8km to the north-northeast. 7 km south of the peak there is lake Sandersee. 0.8 km north-northwest from the summit there is glacier Östliches Bärenkopfkees, 1.1 km south from the summit there is also glacier Nördliches Bockkarkees. Southeast of the summit is the valley Käfertal.
