From Trilobit over Stamare and Kamnitnik below Mali vrh to Vajnež. Forget skiing below the tree line. From the Austrian side, nice spots were visible in the gullies under Stol, and even from Vajnež I met a skier "gutentag" with a sledge towards Medvedje sedlo. Below, avalanche on the third step; from Kamnitnik onwards, traverses ideally hard and not icy. Hole only for a minute or two

Yesterday, while checking, total blowdown on the ridge above Šija stopped me. Such a nice approach...

Yesterday from Kot by the classic route to Rušnata. Below frozen in switchbacks but up to good half almost dry. Beech forest with windfall straight up, under rocks some hard icy but safe crossing. Ridge occasionally annoyingly holed with some hidden iced patches, so I don't push on. Nothing rumbled.
Back I followed old footprints along the ridge to Črna gora and midway directly to the valley via one of the rare "safe" gullies to the car parked midway in the valley at the forest road junction. Road otherwise drivable to the end, but no turnaround if you encounter max 2 already parked and no 4x4 for frozen slippery banks. If you don't want 1-2 km reverse, suggest stopping earlier

Today 30.6. from Kot. Snow starts continuously already above the spring. And soon you can't avoid it anymore. Without proper gear up here and over Prag you got nothing to do. Even if it all stays in the backpack While ascending to Vrbanova I spot a mountaineer descending from Rjavina. Upper snowfield looks crusty and he's going very carefully. On Vrbanova no snow on the ridge. Crampons on again at Stanič waiting for building material transport. Nicely packed in heli bags. Better than flying us...

Yesterday 28.6. a bit late but fast enough from in front of the ski jumps to Middle Ponca. The path wintered well, the most "tangled" is still dry beech leaves underneath and scree in the "pit" above Tamar. No more snow on the path. Winter gear thus remained in and on the backpack. At the top where I meet a group of young athletes with all the appropriate gear, seems they came from the neighboring side, I sit only briefly because the sun just after 11 already shows its power. Despite a pile of snow on the ridge that still persists. Tamar packed full, prepare to wait for a free table in the shade. It might happen that you won't even be allowed to sit at the only one at the table - corona corona I heard...

Yesterday 24.6. redbull's report reminded me of the summit with the most different elevations Up through the Kotle and past the Macesnovih to Ingota. Third time failing the passage between the basins... I put on crampons above the upper one and with intermediate removal for fun from the saddle "drop" at the Macesnih. Below enough hardened for skiing on the soles straight to Ak, with ice axe in hand. Anything more due to plenty of "precipitation" from the live rock face not worth risking. Holds well in the morning, but already gone at the saddle for easy entry into the wall. Now that the white cows have been driven in, Ingo will also be open. Waterfalls already properly visited. Enough water that you have to go to the bridge if you don't want to get wet. By 12:30 already properly hot.

Yesterday 16.6.2021 I waved to it across the valley from 1800 m spot. Started below the gondola first along Žagarje and then up the hunting path without markers. Initially nicely traceable at hunting path height already overgrown, especially broken by lots of snow avalanches. So I turn towards the hunting path and looking for connection to Savica not directly up but right. Again along hunting path up the gully and over the edge - into labyrinth of scree and snow. Slowly I make my way back to dry Ražnova and along marked to planina Govnač. Path occasionally snowy but with solid footwear no problem. From planina towards Mahavšček already on solid but holding snow to 1800 m, where I admire a flock of at least 8 paragliders above Škrbina of Tolminski Kuk and a herd of small chamois school running around me. Back to planina and across Komna to Savica which is already attracting more tourists and along road to start. Above 1600 m for strolling you need winter gear, even if just take ice axe in hand for some crossing. No tracks yet.

14.6.2021 from Roblek where livestock is already grazing. To Dolge Njive decently wintered path though chains soft, in the rock something happening (as for thousands of years). On Dolge young lambs jumping, further white snow patches amid thinning scrub. To saddle more, on Ridge still winter-spring. Blew so hard I thought it'd carry me off. No winter gear needed. Good to have non-slip snow shoes.

Yesterday 12.6. parked at Žaga. Up Zagon [and] dry hunter['s path] under Orličje. To snow. Trampled only upper loop Austrian[, I'm the] only one [I] see with full winter gear. Ferrata guys. Who can go even [down the] ass for me, important legs without crampons ahead. Head not [very] hard when [you] hit first rock... Upper under Vrtača [in the] gully snow then few patches lower over Šija to Izvir. Surprisingly few visitors for weekend. But more than [during] quarantine

Today 4.6.2021 check in Završniško if Koča pri izviru is already open. Park at Smokuška. Past Tinčkove through Zagon under snowy Srednji vrh and Šija. Even though the mountain looks almost bare, remaining and future snow patches are nasty windslab traverses, winter gear mandatory. The path is also iced up from everything that fell from the top this year. Bypassed the last nasty steep snowfield to the summit ridge. The hut is open

Today from Gozd via almost dry Psica to the top of Storžič and then southwest to the traverse past Krničar back. Just below the summit I didn't tackle the snow patch with full winter gear but bypassed
straight up the rock (seemed poor 3 to me on the spot, trifle for experts ). Paths well wintered. To Mala Polana also cleared of trees and branches. Further the traverse to the turnoff for Tolsti with some fallen trees. Two young enjoyed the summit via SW ridge which was probably a bit drier than yesterday .

Yesterday 21.5. parking fees not collected yet. Snow starts a bit before Črni and there's more and more. Smart ones without gear not going further yet, but the loop over Orliče to Komna despite snow "works" and is trampled. Barely visible tracks greatly ease orientation. Before Jezeri right, over snowfield midway on the traverse under Tičarca. Some nasty patches under Rušnata still waiting to melt. Štapci dry, up a combination of south slope and bushes. Eagle circles over me, marmot hides timely under the summit. Always forget how steep it is down to Savica. Brrr...

Yesterday 20.5. towards the Monument I ran right into a tractor driver with a plow. So park a good kilometer before. New snow below Blejska, with height more and more (5, 10, 15 cm). On top drifts up to the ass. Snow will get more processed, but due to steep snow-covered traverses to Dovška from Okrogelža I rather turn to Brda. On the return I notice footprints in mine, maybe someone continued to the end anyway From Lipance I see some tracks, below the open hut a young couple in shorts. Well, 11 degrees

Yesterday 13.5. From Erjavčevo along stream and a bit on own along intermediate ridge towards Starka. Lower under Baba heavily snow-covered but snow compact enough for "safe" crossings. Old track eases finding passages around "hollow" bushes also towards Beautiful Plevelnica. Back through snowy forest past almost snow-free Lovska.

Today 11.5. to Košutica via hunting path. Snow on upper meadows, some annoying avalanche debris crossings already towards hut and in upper path section to upper junction. Snow on ridge with some hollow spots to upper third. Our and their for me too soft "tongue" I bypassed on left bushes. Due to wind no loop, but towards Hajnže looks bare. For loop to Ljubelj hut no issues visible, but in last descent to neighbors in still quite snowy forest you lose it quickly. Bring all necessary docs and winter gear! The more I looked at pic of last "our" snow patch under summit the more convinced it dropped a few cm in less than half hour...

Yesterday 10.5. Spik was still far away. From Krnica dry, turned back a bit above Gamsova Špica. Under it concrete avalanche debris from recent rains, higher up looked still too soft to continue. Proper snow from Macesn below Gamsova, to there 2 steep snow tongues bypassed a bit lower or via scree.

Struska welcomes us strangely this week, sun going up and down, up top everything foggy and windy. But in the morning it was still quite frozen and slippery on the wind-blown stuff.
