Hello.

Some time ago I set myself the challenge of conquering the highest points of all Slovenian municipalities. I had the most difficulties precisely in determining the actual highest point within each individual municipality. Nowhere was there a complete list of the highest points for all municipalities in Slovenia. So I tackled exactly that. Also, because with work on two-thousanders I already had a lot of data collected. The data is based on the digital relief model (DRM), which was created with the recently completed cyclic laser scanning of Slovenia (CLSS). The latest municipal polygon for determining municipal boundaries was also used. The list is available at the link below. Before use, it is necessary to read the explanation of the data on the website.

I've had the desire for a long time to do all four peaks in one go. And Saturday, 4.10.2025 was the ideal day for it. I drew the route in Locus Map, didn't even know what to expect or if the paths are passable at all. One thing is the drawn line on the map, another is the condition on the terrain. Well, surprisingly everything was nicely passable, it's true that at least two thirds of the path is macadam. Which wasn't any problem at all. So the paths are passable without trouble. We tackled the paths with two cars, one in Podgozd (starting point for St. Peter) and one in Blatnik pri Črmošnjicah (marked parking on the map). In the morning we quickly ascend to Sveti Peter, descent to macadam or forest path and towards Pogorelec (Sedlata Gorica - take-off site). The path to Sveti Peter is fully marked, easy and runs entirely through the forest. Continuation from St. Peter to Pogorelec is practically unmarked anywhere. Some signs are at the Primož forest hut but none for Pogorelec. Only the last 10 minutes before the summit we hit a sign directing to the take-off site. Here the first pause for a sandwich and descent over the highest peak located in the forest a bit above the take-off site. Again we reach the Primož forest hut, here signs direct towards Kočevski Rog or Kočevje. The macadam forest path leading to Veliki Rog is largely unmarked, I relied on the drawn path on the phone. Locus Map works offline too, which is worth its weight in gold for these areas. Most of the time there is no signal on the phone. After quite some time walking we finally arrive at Roška pešpot, where there are marks again (green bear paw on white background) all the way to the top of Veliki Rog, where there is no tower anymore. Pause for a sandwich and continuation. To Žaga we follow green bear paws (marks Roška pešpot or better known as Path along the Bear Tracks). At Žaga we don't continue in the direction of Roška pešpot into the primeval forest (I think the new Path along the Bear Tracks completely bypasses the primeval forest, not sure) but branch off on the road left and after about 10 meters right into the forest. Here even a sign for Mirna gora awaits us. Almost the only one to Mirna gora, to which quite some walking awaits us. Over macadam and past Ponikev - the nicest part of the path, we arrive in the evening hours to the home on Mirna gora. Just a jump to the highest point and in the dark return to the car in Blatnik pri Črmošnjicah. We follow the marked path Mirna gora - Brezovica (much nicer than the one to Vrčice, since to Vrčice there is quite a bit of macadam). At one place we branch right to Blatnik where we have the car. We were quite glad for it. To Blatnikov hram at Dvor for excellent pizza, then to the other car and home. Nice and long tour through almost home corners.

In the end it added up to 50 km and over 2000 elevation gain.

So is it possible to visit both peaks without a rope or is it not recommended?
DVas17. 08. 2026 12:58:39
Yes, I tested the upper one.
DVas17. 08. 2026 12:23:10
If you use the search on hribi.net it doesn't find it.
DVas17. 08. 2026 10:32:43
I think something should be added to the topic title, because the search engine obviously doesn't find topics that have a title only three characters long.

Thanks, I also visited all possible hills within the municipality during corona. Some have been untouched from my side since then velik nasmeh
DVas13. 08. 2026 10:51:41
So it is, the highest point is located a bit below Štefanja gora but we cannot count it as the highest peak of Šenčur municipality, because the peak is in the neighboring municipality. Exactly for these border cases I added this additional column. If we disregard the highest point and focus on the highest peak with a name within the municipality borders - then it is Apnišče. I didn't consider the prominence of peaks anywhere. The condition was only that the peak has some name, because many bumps are recorded on the map without a name. So I tried to ensure quite a few criteria... Let everyone choose what suits them.

@Loerst register of spatial units also includes local communities - so I can tackle that too if it tempts me velik nasmehvelik nasmeh

It's true that I didn't look at prominence. Just the absolute highest points of the municipality regardless of where that point is located. I then also included 2 more columns - the nearest peak to that highest point that has a given name (regardless of municipal boundaries - because of border peaks) - and the highest named peak within the municipality itself.

It says:

On 14 and 15 August 2026 extensive rehabilitation works will take place on the CLOSED very demanding Šprem path, which leads from Dolska škrbina to Grintovec! At that time the technical group of PD Kamnik will among other things also carry out demolition works in the area of rockfalls. Due to cleaning the path and removing a large quantity of stones and rocks any approach to the work site will be deadly dangerous. We ask all visitors to strictly observe the path closure and to avoid the wider area of Šprem path for their own safety and the safety of the trail markers.

Yes there is quite a lot of that, e.g. for Črnomelj Debeli vrh was long considered the highest but this February they realized that it is not so.

I myself draw data from GURS so I think more accurate ones are not published anywhere.

*according to the latest laser scanning the summit of Vremščica is 1025,51000977m high
*regarding Sežana, Škofce is listed as the highest peak (703m)

*I strictly looked at the municipality borders

Approach low shoes - more precisely TX4 LaSportiva - I used for ascent to approx. 170 two-thousanders.
DVas12. 08. 2026 07:31:25
Yes, quite a bit of effort was put in here. Thanks.

On Sunday to Kepa via standard marked paths from Erjavčev Rovt. Road in good condition. In between also to Gubno and Dovška Mala Kepa. On the way back also to Dovška Baba, because it was a nice day. On the unmarked path (although there are quite a few red dots) then return to Erjavčev Rovt. All BP on the path. Maybe a bit more debris than usual.
