This weekend the wish is an ascent to Begunjščica, and I'm wondering if there's a safe approach without serious winter gear. I have small crampons, no ice axe or anything more serious. I'm also in the hills in winter, but more in unexposed areas.
I'm looking at the path from Draga over Preval up and past Roblek back (judging by the pictures, that gully below worries me), or from Lubelj to Zelenica and probably up over Šentanski plaz and down the same valley. If there's some at least somewhat trodden track, otherwise I won't force it.
If some third variant exists, I'll be glad too.

Over Preval up is a very steep variant and with icy-snowy (grasses)! very exposed to slipping. From Roblek up due to west aspect there generally less icy and probably trodden. So from Begunj along access road and further to Roblek. If it won't go, in current conditions not good to risk, return still possible. Get at least some basic ice axe (Grivel, DMM), which will be useful for self-protection even without crampons first. Good luck and nice tour!

Over Preval I went in spring (actually from Lubelj) and really remember those steep grasses. If something goes wrong, you really go to the bottom, so this one is out.
North side from this viewpoint is probably even more exposed and dangerous, or am I wrong?

North of Begunjščica is already the domain of alpinism and experienced mountaineering with full winter gear.
In winter the north is due to unprocessed dry snow always more dangerous because of avalanches, conversely in spring on south sunny exposures it changes, depending on solar exposure time, amount of low night temperatures... Of course on steep scree snow adheres much better than on grass in every respect, but only the first snowfall!.

So we meet over the winter on the other kucljih  In summer up the north face and over Roblek and Preval back to Lubelj.

Viharnik. How about the gullies on the S side? Enough snow so they are filled or already quite bare due to the inversion the whole past week?

Sodnick, for such climbs it's necessary to convince yourself on the terrain how the snow holds, because in the steeps there it's no joke if you don't turn back sensibly in time. Weather is currently warming with southern weather also from 1800 to 2000m. For Christmas it'll dump snow on us, so ski touring branch will come forward sooner with avalanches included.

Well @viharnik, maybe it'd be good if you check the current conditions yourself before sharing advice with others about it.
Otherwise Centrala is ok, as @macesna already wrote...only for skiing down there's really too little snow in it.

Centralna was good maybe till Tuesday, now it's Friday with south wind. But directly I didn't talk about Centralna gully, but generally and about current weather. Oh women nagging...

On Tuesday and Wednesday it was pretty cold in the hills, even on south sides (Wed), just because of wind. No thaw up there.
