Yesterday by car to Završnica valley, parked about 300m below Tinčkova hut, snow is just a sample, but the road below the hut is in bad condition. Put skis on after 10 min., at the fork for Roblek and to the top of Begunjščica without removing. I was late though, so my Tagi was sinking properly in the lower part of Smokuški, higher it was hard and he only descended after 11. Some tourers yesterday, some the classic: up Šentanc, down here, and to central they skied, personally for me the nicest descent is Smokuški, also ascent from Završnica is one of the nicer ones. Spring-like descent, hard up top, rotten below... Just above Tinčkova hut I meet a group of tourers going for afternoon... And I was late... LP

Does anyone know if the road from Draga to Poljska planina is normally drivable by passenger cars?

Yesterday in the central gully, after a lot of persuading finally convinced my better half to try. Weather ideal, not too hot, no one in the gully, conditions solid, a bit postholing down the couloir, also up on the ridge, I think these are the last ascents in the gully this year. Soon the couloir will be completely gone and then gullies bye. Y-ka is still climbable, right ridge is scraped, left exit still filled. Down Šentanc postholing, top of Šentanc completely scraped, lots of skiers. Ričet in the hut excellent, beer too. All in all, excellent labor day...

up the scree it won't be passable much longer ...

I tied it myself again, purely for her psyche.

I also decided to do a snowy approach to Veliki vrh before the snow is gone. Up through the central gully, down the Šentanski couloir. Towards the top there's already a little snow and the gully isn't filled. I didn't need crampons and ice axe because the snow is soft. Falling rocks (stones) worried me more where the helmet doesn't help. On the way down to the hut where I met in person the great expert of alpine flowers, Velkavrh, with whom we went down together. By the way, I learned some new flowers. Weather held, so good views weren't missing.

It doesn't look as steep in the picture as in reality.

Nice greetings,
my colleague and I plan to head to Begunjščica next Thursday (16.5.). Thinking from Tomčeva koča. What is the path like? Is it passable or still too much snow?

You probably mean Tomčeva koča on Poljska planina. Snow is only still on the ridge and I think there will be no problems with that. How the road from Draga to the planina is is another question.

This afternoon on Begunjščica, start from Ljubelj via Planina Preval and via Kalvarija to the summit. Weather was occasionally a bit cloudy, otherwise great, a bit windy on the ridge. No peculiarities on the path, winter has finally departed here, except for two small snow patches, which are not demanding to cross.

We two today before work to Veliki vrh or Begunjščica. Start at Ljubelj to Zelenica and over Šentanski plaz to summit. Morning still a bit frozen, caution was not superfluous, crampons not needed, on return nothing more and descent on plaz full enjoyment nasmeh

Just a few days after the last post, no snow left. In the morning I went from Ljubelj via Zelenica along the marked path to the summit, returned via Kalvarija and Bornovi tunnels. Midway break for sour milk at Planina Preval. At the summit today when I arrived, nobody. Also for me today the summit was promised at probably the nicest end of Slovenia, but the weather forecast crossed the plans. The black sheep at the top made me laugh to tears. Probably it was already firmly decided to go with me as a domestic sheep. velik nasmeh

Path without peculiarities, luckily dry, in wet Kalvarija is also down a calvary.

Hello.

If not going on some hike/climb elsewhere, might do this loop on Sunday:

Dom v Dragi – Preval – Veliki vrh (Begunjščica) - Roblekov dom – Tomčeva koča – Dom v Dragi

Never been. Assume no hiking winter gear needed at all? Can reach parking (Dom v Dragi) normally with somewhat lower personal car (Seat Leon)? Any other annoyances on this path?

The road to Draga is asphalted to the parking lot, a few meters of gravel to the larger parking lot. The only ''annoyance'' is the ascent over the steep Kalvarija above Preval if it's muddy. Before climbing to Veliki vrh, also visit Begunjska Vrtača on the east side of the Begunjščica ridge, nice walk across meadows, you won't regret it.

Today for recreation from Poljska planina to Roblekov dom and summit. Road from Dom v Dragi onward in poor condition and barely drivable with car due to deep ruts. Otherwise tour without peculiarities, on return some mud at Roblek, while on Stol and Vrtača it looked quite bad.

The road is in very poor condition, I recommend leaving the car lower down. We drove to the hut with the car last year, and we really regretted it. This year it's even worse.

Sunday was inviting us to the mountains. But for Sunday we'll choose something shorter, so we decide to head to Begunjščica, but this time on an unknown path. Start at Ljubelj, to Zelenica and from there to the summit. The weather offered us wonderful views today and the path to the top passed quickly. The summit was quite crowded in pleasant sun, cooled by a light breeze. We descend to Roblekov dom, where we take a slightly longer break, then to Preval pasture and back to Ljubelj via Bornova pot. Wonderful tour in nice weather and a nice end to the week.
