I have no idea what it is, flowers are even in tiers. It grows a bit above the hut at Zelenica. I have another one.....

@funnyboy, nice and I hope Vrtača won't hold it against you for changing her to Stol.

Thanks, otiv. I noticed and corrected the mistake. A few pictures earlier I already knew it was Vrtača . Next time I'll type more slowly and be more careful.

Hello, has anyone been to Begunjščica in the last few days? What are the conditions, or how is Begunjščica in winter - is it fairly safe with these small crampons and hiking poles (if no general avalanche danger)? Thanks for the answer and LP

"small crampons".. Either crampons or nothing, not something in between..

Heh, I even googled a bit how to phrase it so no one gets hung up on naming these "little crampons" on chains with rubber, and found mini crampons, cramponlets, etc. They definitely aren't real crampons, nor "nothing". That's why I chose that name. I hope someone who knows what I mean answers my question... Debates on crampons, little crampons and how stupid or smart it is to use them are plenty elsewhere on the forum, so no debate here. I asked for winter conditions on Begunjščica. Thanks and LP

"Real crampons they aren't, 'nothing' either..." No, worse than nothing. I know well what it's about, I meet various "experts" happily using URBAN CRAMPONS or WALKING CRAMPONS for snowy and icy surfaces, but for high mountains the manufacturer says they aren't suitable. Begunjščica is undoubtedly high mountains. Especially in combination with hiking poles it's a winning combo, regardless that snow is just a sample, as the camera shows. For winter conditions best to go and see for yourself. Morning can be icy on the north side. From Roblek it's trodden.

another one who knows it all.... can you answer manch's question and post the answer on the portal. Keep all your subjective opinions to yourself on the other side of the monitor. Here's an example: "ans: yes, was on path, conditions - little snow, little ice, recommend crampons, everything is better than nothing. Poles are OK until you fall on a snowy slope , then skis come into play. safe step". see, that's what you call an answer.

manch - to me these cramponlets have been very useful several times and aren't just for the city, as JusAvgustin says! But in this new snow they won't be much help, nor will "real" crampons. If you go up, take both with you and check with your own eyes, as the previous commenter advised. lp safe step further

Primož, where do you sleep so they don't steal you?

, the question was also how is Begunjscica in winter? It would be funny to clamber up with small ice picks, they would probably lock you up. Now go while you can, you certainly won't in the snow. Primož, which one did you mean when you said the ONE smart one, probably I'm the other hah

redbull Dejan, when will they lock you up, since you didn't even have crampons on your last venture? If you look objectively at the matter, then you just can't talk about what kind, when, where (in the manch case). Isn't it true? I'm not accusing you, so you don't misunderstand. But that's the mentality of Slovenians in general - they see everyone else, just not themselves

Whoever asks about Begunjščica if the so-called small crampons and hiking poles are enough, luckily saw it only from afar.. that's my opinion.. whoever has already been up there in winter knows that without gear it doesn't go or isn't safe.. Dejan already knows what he's doing..
