Today on Grintovec. Conditions for such a warm day are fine. Snow starts half an hour below Kokrsko sedlo (from Kamnik side), where there's quite a bit and it's very good to be early so no heavy slogging with sinking. Further from the saddle some dry sections here and there, higher snow that's crusty, but in the morning it holds fine. Today we went to the top without crampons, some put them on for the first 400m descent. But it was blowing very very hard, I had no rest and no sandwich at the top. But lower we made up for it. Yeah, even in the mountains it already smells like spring.

Hi, has anyone gone this route in the last days? Can you go without crampons and ice axe already?

Today after a long time I went paragliding to Grintovec. Wind finally eased a bit as it blew too strong for almost 3 months. Path is nicely passable, of course with crampons and ice axe. Up to 2100m somehow ok without crampons, then they are highly recommended or mandatory, same for ice axe. Snow was still frozen at 8am and didn't sink. So Streha is icy!! On top just right wind for safe takeoff.

Well, I also went to Grintovec today, weather throughout a bit cloudy, moments of sun, on return snow shower. At the hut it started snowing properly and we headed to the valley. Had to change clothes several times or put on and then take off, yeah weird weather. Saw a paraglider right as I left the hut around 8am, well on top already quite crusty when we three or 4 arrived up, no wind at all, basically great. On return very crusty, sinking in places, didn't use crampons or just a bit for test but went down Streha without much zigzag and that's it. Some pics too.

Snow on Grintovec looked pretty good this morning, because clouds cleared and all peaks had white caps, I'd head there. But avalanche danger is quite high...
(Kidding a bit, but it was really nice in the morning! Those who went up will tell)

I went on Sunday, 22.4., from Konc towards Cojzova hut, but it started snowing and it was very foggy, so I turned back where you exit the forest, some snow from there on, higher up don't know how it is, couldn't see due to fog.

Yesterday my colleague and I were up there, the only ones that day.. There were hikers to the hut and a bit up, but all turned back; we went to the top..
Towards the top it was snowing yesterday, fog so thick that sometimes you couldn't see even 3m ahead, snow collapsed to mid-thigh in places..
First time in my life with ice on my head and backpack. Up top yesterday really impossible conditions, wind so it felt like -20 degrees  . No views from Streha entry, so pics only at top..
ridge already around noon, visibility sometimes down to 3m..
Top, no views..

Anyway, in such conditions I advise against descent to those who don't know the mountain like the back of their hand, because it's deadly for orientation, it's easy to make a mistake.
