"Anyway in such conditions I would advise everyone against descent to those who don't have the mountain at their fingertips ... "

What do you suggest instead?

He wrote it a bit wrong, therefore in such cases it's good to have some GPS; one of the companions had it, I have to say it's a great thing; if you're going for sunsets it's good to have that GPS, if you accidentally get lost/go off track.

In case of impossible conditions for descent from the mountain, choose bivouacking.
How many people visiting our mountains in winter carry basic bivouac gear, or how many of us even know how to bivouac in such conditions.
For example I'll say this: once someone asked me what the hell you are dragging up this slope. I had a 40 l backpack, inside dry clothes, food for cca. 2 days and basic bivouac gear, and of course all other winter gear for mountains.

Jesihar, hope I advised well nasmeh

Best, Jure

In such conditions I rather postpone the tour to a day with better weather forecast, but I've been in such conditions myself and it wasn't nice at all, that's why from Jezersko via Skuta I had to descend to Okrešeljmrk pogled, to avoid thick fog and from there via Savinjsko and Jezersko sedlo via Ledine to the valley, if I had had GPS then it would have been easier.

I myself in such fog and snow wouldn't set off at all or would turn back earlier. Bivouacking on the roof where there is no good shelter can't be pleasant. Probably I would try to climb down slowly. At least from Grintovec, which is not steep and which I know quite well.

On a short trip through Slovenia - land of my mother, one night (23.05.) I will spend in the hut Kamniška Bistrica. Tomorrow 24.05. I'm going to Kamniško or Kokrsko sedlo.
Let me know if someone is free and can join me, I would like to go to Grintovec but prefer not alone. Of course Grintovec only if nice weather and good views.

Nice greeting from Sarajevo!

Vučko, follow snow conditions too so nothing surprises you up there!

Just today I checked the roof, because I also plan to go up soon. The roof still has quite a few snow patches. But there's less than before May 1st.

If it was 6.5 up to the middle of the thighs, then at least to the knees still in places for sure (streha, to cover ourselves), elsewhere there won't be or very little..

Yesterday we were up there with two other mates. We started from Kamniška Bistrica. Weather as ordered. No snow to Kokrsko sedlo, further on some larger patches that can be avoided with a bit of extra effort. On the descent, quite some caution is needed.

Does anyone know what conditions are like via Dolge Stene to Grintovec and further via Mlinarsko sedlo to Dolgi Hrbet? Is there snow? Crampons and ice axe necessary or not?

On this route you definitely go over NE snowy sections too, so crampons and ice axe are appropriate. Proverb from our former Yugoslavia says: Better hold it than chase it.velik nasmehmežikanje

I was up today, but went via Streha; from the top I saw the path via Mlinarsko sedlo is dry, but I only saw it from the top, don't know what's below!

Hi, sorry for bad Slovenian, I'm from Trieste. I'd like to go to Grintavec on Saturday. Is it possible to sleep in Češka Koča in your opinion? Is the hut open??? Thanks for answers....nasmehzavijanje z očmizavijanje z očmizavijanje z očmi

Hut not officially open yet, but this Saturday at least partially, as guide trainees will sleep there.
