The road to the cargo cableway is ok, here and there some rut but it's doable (at least it was on 1.7.2012). Need to arrive early enough if you want to park by the cableway.

There's also a new parking lot at Jezersko and it's even fresher up north there.

Parking by the cableway is not allowed, so a new parking lot was built not far below in the forest. Occasionally the lower cableway is visited by a warden. The sign warns!

Thanks everyone for the answers.
It's not clear to me how it's possible to be allowed to park at that new parking lot if traffic on the road is prohibited?! I don't want to go on foot if everyone drives the road, and of course I don't want to pay a fine. Has anyone of you paid a fine or knows someone who has?

Today did the ascent to Grintovec via Mlinarsko sedlo. Path without issues, fixed protection ok, no snow anywhere except in hollows along the path to Mlinarsko sedlo on Velikih podih. Started in Kamniška Bistrica towards Kokrsko sedlo, on the path there was a landslide that destroyed it in one section so in the morning we crawled over fallen beeches and rocks. Therefore I praise those who maintain the path, which by afternoon at 16 when I returned to the valley was already repaired (routed elsewhere). Really exemplary care for hiking paths.

Regards! Tone

Since I'm preparing for a multi-day tour in KSA I looked at them today and saw they are a bit whitened/snowy. Does anyone have info on this (is there a lot of snow etc).
Thanks in advance.

Of course no snow, but a bit colder than it was. I remember how the path to Grintovec from Kokrsko sedlo via Mlinarsko sedlo was my first mountain tour, almost straight from the couch my brother took me. To check if I'm dizzy, clumsy and if I'm afraid of cables. Well, apparently he found none of that, but he addicted me to mountains back then. Today I went alone for such "exercises", hope I was equally successful. Otherwise it's a path I happily walk at least once a year. Today clouds and mists were grazing on the summits, but it only added to the artistic impression.
One question: does anyone know where the path marked red below the slopes of Kalska gora and Kalski greben goes? The upper one to both mountains, the very lower to Suhadolnik, one in between to the cave. What about this one?

28.07.2012 We started the path a bit below Suhadolnik farm towards Cojzova koča via Taško, but already before reaching the hut we changed the planned route and went towards Dolci via Hudi graben, reached the scree under Kočna, had second breakfast and turned via Čez Ovnov čer towards Cojzova koča, then again before the hut turned left to the path towards Grintovec summit, currently the path is additionally marked with tape indicating the running path to Grintovec. Then we went to Mlinarsko sedlo, over Dooolgi hrbet – very interesting path, well since we're already under Štruca then a jump to Skuta under Skuta descent via scree and over Sleme, Velike pode to the bivouac under Grintavcem-Dolgi steni and finally to Cojzova koča. Short stop at the hut and then down to the valley towards Suhadolnik on the old path – easy. Weather super, whole tour veeeeery long, strenuous and some exposed places - demanding. Quite a few of us were hiking in this part of the mountains.

Wine, beautifully shown path through the Long Walls. From the start the little path was visible, that's from the Small Gates onwards, then nothing more. How about the faded markers. Andrej Stritar writes so-passages we seek between rocky jumps, from difficult spots we retreat to the left. Quarter hour before the summit the southeast ridge joins the southern one. We join the path over the Roof. The Long Walls I viewed on Saturday with a very good telescope from Kalska gora and the passage over that rocky area before the paths join wasn't quite clear to me. Only this approach to Grintovec I haven't tackled yet, otherwise I've gone all others. The most demanding is the one from the Czech hut, which to the left at Mlinarsko sedlo goes on to Long Ridge and Skuta. L.P.

Old marks (some red color) are visible here and there. Orientation is easy if the weather is nice, in the last hours there is some harder terrain, but it is possible to detour further from the ridge gully where the terrain is easier. In short, nice tour winking

So, if I understood correctly, parking is possible near the lower station of the cable car to Kokrsko sedlo (parking in the forest) or is it necessary to park at the Dom in Kamniška Bistrica? Thanks for the answer.

Home-style: no-entry sign is soon after the Dom in Kamniška Bistrica. To the first signs for Kamniško sedlo you can legally drive by car (right after the little bridge there's parking). Then like everywhere. You can drive up, they drive too, you can go right to the cargo cable car or to Jermanca (wherever you're going), but if you get a ticket on the wipers it'll be because you violated traffic regs. Currently that's not very common, fines I mean (at least I haven't heard).

Hello! I've never been to Kamnik-Savinja Alps on any summit. I see the highest peak is Grintovec (2558 m). I'm interested if there's any peak over 1600m in Kamnik-Savinja Alps that has a hut, reachable by car on asphalt road and good starting point for hiking to other higher peaks.

Thanks for the answer, then it's legal to park right after the little bridge. How much walking is it from the parking to the cargo cable car or to the starting point (V Koncu) for Grintovec?

three quarters of an hour, say. Watch the markers, no need to follow the road all the time.

There is very little asphalt in the KSA. Actually, you can only reach Kamniška Bistrica (600 m), Logarska dolina (900-1000 m), and Jezersko (around 1000) by asphalt. These are all super starting points for tours; there are huts in K.B. and L.D., none in Jezersko but it is a bit higher. From K.B. to Grintovec, Skuta, Ojstrica, Planjava, Brana, etc.; from L.D. to Ojstrica, Planjava, Turska gora, Rinka, Mrzla gora; from Jezersko to Grintovec, Kočna, Skuta, Rinka.
There are a few gravel roads that go higher - e.g., to Dom below Storžič above Tržič (then to Storžič) and to pastures above Podvolovljek (then to Veliki vrh, Korošica, Ojstrica).
That's it. Plenty of options, but all require at least some physical fitness and experience.
