To savor a day as beautiful and wonderful as today is simply priceless. And it would be a shame to miss it or let it slip .
The forecast from the end of last week until mid-week promised sunny and warm autumn weather, just right for the hills . Yesterday rushed to the boss , tugged his sleeve if he can approve a day off, positive confirmation and in a few hours planned today .
After all options swarming in our heads, we chose the highest - at least in height, not the top on the wish list - at least not mine. After nice walk to Baba nad Čemšenikom (nice view on Grinta and Kočni) on Sunday we synced to decide Grintovec the one both want. Mojca never, me not since last October.
So, bigvrh post months ago on ascent to Cojzova convinced us to ascend from Suhadolnik Čez Taško, descend the easier old path. How right. Parking below - higher than the top farm - had one visitor. Not alone. Above, a bit below junction for Taško and old path, only one more steel horse, and that's it. No crowd. Soon morning sun lights still elusive Kočni. You "fly" up when you see such sights. Steep path rises in switchbacks along torrent gorge. Chains and pegs super and well placed, upper steps really enchant. And spice the path. Nice. Slowly ascending to hut. Path to it drags quite a bit for me, but no "whining", just put one foot in front of the other and it will go. One hiker already up. First time up here. We basked in sun rays for a good hour, as it's really warm in shelter. Cows here plenty. Almost "tamed", as they would take the whole backpack if allowed. Quite a few hikers, most aiming for Grintovec, some planned for Skuta . So we slowly paced to the summit and reached it after 2.5h amid wonderful, what wonderful, divine views . Would have been faster if not constantly looking at Vrh Korena where helicopter had some action - don't know if rescue or what. Went to valley several times, then returned again. Chats with some descenders on ascent, who are enthusiastic about the really nice weather, like us. Summit reached by some from Jezersko direction today. "Snow, snow, tricky that ice, more than I thought", heard from the gentleman we talked to before hut. Prevented his ascent to both Kočni. Couple who were with us on summit said snow yes but avoidable. Found shelter few meters below summit. Warm autumn sun warmed us almost all the way to the car. After cca. 1.5h at hut. Quick eat and drink, then quickly down to avoid night. With friendly and hospitable gentleman we debated before hut, walked part together, then each their way. He over Taško, we old path. Wet tree roots and rocks caused occasional butt to ground contact. Over Taško could end more miserably if slipped. For end of nice day we watched sunset painting surrounding peaks gold.
Another of those nice days captured and SAVORED with big spoon, dedicated to hills. Such views as today's we haven't had lately, so joy and happiness indescribable, smile drawn to ears, heart pleasantly jumping, body enjoying and charging energy for next work days.
That icing on the cake still missing for me: ascent to Grintovec this autumn time over Mlinarsko sedlo, descent over Dolge stene. Hope, wish anyway already now, that it succeeds next year.
