Where have I been preaching to anyonejezik, when I just posted a link and added that it's 3rd degree.

"practical work of making a snow profile"

Completely unnecessary, you're seeking limits, challenging where else one could go. Usually less experienced don't even push up, those experienced who think they master everything might get buried by an avalanche, like last year under Kamniški dedec, on Zelenica, under Kredarica, because they didn't even bother to check snow conditions online, let alone do a profile on terrain.

Ljubitelj gora@: About the experiences of the unlucky ones on the mentioned terrains we could discuss for a long time...surely at least two of them had no idea about winter conditions.

@lg, snow profile is unnecessary because you'll get buried anyway since you won't do it? WTF? Do you ever even read what you write?

I didn't write that it's not necessary, that it is, it buries them because they don't even want to do it, if anyone even carries a shovel then don't start again.

Every time the first snow falls we're faced with all kinds of questions, of this or that nature. Maybe it would be smart if someone actually attends Mr. Jani Bele's course and sees there that the practice of making proper snow profiles and determining actual danger level isn't browsing the net and giving advice from the couch... Of course there are certain apps that allow PREPARATION for the tour, but knowing methods and terrain is still crucial when carrying them out. I know this post will fall on deaf ears for many and you'll trumpet your own, but the truth is that the vast majority of you up here don't even have avalanche gear or basic winter mountaineering knowledge. Well-intentioned or ill-intentioned? Whatever. Prevention is better than cure. Winter in mountains is no joke. For you LG everything you write is anyway a joke.

I see you've all gotten heated nasmeh. About winter conditions one could discuss (be smart until it happens to you). I agree to check ARSO but it's necessary to verify on terrain what actually happens. Because it doesn't mean it's safe if they write 1st degree
Moving in mountains in winter is extra pleasure that requires some risk :P
You gather experience along the way.
Otherwise soon there will be another course organized
SAFE MOVING IN MOUNTAINS IN WINTER (free)
To refresh knowledge a bit :

and about gear:

I just asked because there's always someone who actually goes to check on terrain :P

You are interesting....Victims will be and remain in winter, even among the more experienced, because sometimes they deliberately go "over the limit". zavijanje z očmi

For fairly safe movement in the mountains, besides theory you need above all enough practical training on the terrain, where it precisely shows where you still lack, where you get stuck, and don't dig out properly, quickly and effectively. Also practiced handling of avalanche probe and transceiver brings valuable seconds in successful rescue. Most important is continuous observation on the terrain and checking the snow cover. It is necessary to know the composition and cohesion-bonding of different snow, slopes where avalanche easily triggers, knowledge of summer base where we move in winter, knowledge of microlocations of regular snow avalanches, wind, sun, temperatures, humidity etc. Of course in current conditions in mountains the most important is not how much we sink, but caution on leeward southern slopes and ridges regarding slabs and windblown snow.

It wouldn't hurt if some "armchair mountaineers" went to see Klemen or Jani for some training before spouting nonsense and misleading with unprofessionalism and predictions. I didn't want such a reaction so please admin move the posts to the appropriate thread...

At Igu you surely get some expert interpretations and insight into the implementation on the terrain, then it depends on the individual how much he trains himself for real conditions in the mountains. Everyone must thoroughly refresh their avalanche knowledge before the winter season if they move in the mountains.

This discussion really belongs in a completely different thread.

On tours we also educate and raise awareness of participants. Of course at a completely safe place.
The snow cover consists of several layers1
Boundaries between individual snow layers2
Layer of dry, unbonded snow3
Test of snow cover stability4
This is how a snow slab releases with possible people in that area5

Even the dead don't have peace anymore, even after a year they have to be chased here on the forum jezen
LG, if you know any of these unfortunates their souls would be better served by some positive thought. If you're a complete stranger to them then it's right to leave them in peace jezen

Not defending LG but this time you really provoked him a bit. True in first post he just gave info. I don't know why you need to hit at him right away (Juš? Whom I respect as experienced mountaineer and alpinist). Maybe because you know he can be provoked because if he said 'just go up' it would (this time justifiably) be wrong again. LG sausage only when you provoke him. He's just that kind of guy who can't leave something unanswered.

And I don't go to high mountains in winter but still for avalanche scale I heard and roughly know what third level means. Isn't it better to be a bit more cautious than pay for carelessness with life. What will be by Thursday we'll see...

Beautiful calm, no wind. Especially a warm day (I have a nose for when to take vacation).
Avalanches? As some scare, go check yourselves, what would avalanche, there's no snow - all blown away, question where? Scree under Kokrsko I stuck to the left gully, which was frozen. Winter gear stayed in backpack, didn't even use ice axe. On Wednesday the first was up after this snowfall, I of course the secondnasmeh. Everything went so fast, at the top wonderful views and really warm sun rays - winter gloves unused today.
Back went express, all together just over 5h. Still lots of time, so decided to start from Kamniška b. to Kamniško sedlo, of course backpack left in car and sprint to top. Pity, if knew earlier would take running shoes and pants. Up-down 2.5h -- and that with Salewa goljzlarjem.
Now weekend Raduha ahead.
Report of all together on Monday.

Cheers

Dejan
