Due to injury of one climbing partner descent wasn't safe. While waiting if we could treat the injury to descend safely, the snow also deteriorated heavily. No other choice. GRS guys said it was the only smart move.

I personally wouldn't publish such an ascent. Especially since the other side of the story was omitted. No hard feelings.

The forum is for "conditions in mountains". This was also posted (amount and state of the snow cover) with advice that hikers descend by 10am. The other part of the story basically doesn't belong in this forum, at most under "accidents in mountains"!!

If a helicopter ever has to pick me up, I'd rather not post pictures up to the moment of my own rescue in the style of how nice an ascent we made, then lecture others on what's right and advise them.

Oh Matej....maybe it would really be smarter to sometimes wait a bit with the comment and think...anyone can find themselves in trouble and no one is immune to accidents.. Basically we're all adults and we answer for our own actions in case of accident, parents for underage antics It's easiest to raise the neighbor's kid, I think better wait till yours grow up

exactly to those interested in jalovec, the first comment or description by @klemenstuar is right. i'm really curious how many of you have already climbed this mountain in winter conditions... as mukica rightly wrote, no one is immune to accident and precisely that was the reason hikers in this case couldn't return to the valley in safe conditions. i agree that all the rest lecturing is just f*cking around.

Jalovec is a demanding mountain, I've been up there alone several times in summer, only 1x in winter and I have wonderful memories and desire to make it again sometime...caution is never too much and it's right to publish everything, nice and also those unpleasant things

Reports of accidents, rescues are published by official institutions. Some just warm up media posts and meddle in others' privacy. Sick.

Yeah redbull just fly over to me we'll do half in the stable in the morning then head to Jalovec But I think we'll get lost and I'll just order free heli and even pimp them to take me home to Polhograjsko hribovje, we've got 5ha hill, bald as Blegoš.

Mountain lover, you missed the moment again when it would be better to stay quiet. The delete key will be used again, right?

You better tend to cows, not the real mountain lovers. You're a weird bird, just waiting for incidents

As long as the helicopter in Slovenia is free and mountain rescuers' help is on a voluntary level, such accidents will happen. Yeah, some still live in socialism, like everything used to be free. Now the helicopter is financed from all of us taxpayers. When there is a system like the one Austria has also here and everyone claims rescue from their own ins. policy, the story will be different. Then there'll be mountain police too, of course after rescue they'll judge if costs are covered by insurance policy or the culprit covers the costs. Then no joking with negligence (getting lost, bad equipment) when you have to pay at least 4000 euros. 2500 euros is just the flying cost of the helicopter, where are the staff costs. Now you're all so smart and if it goes on like this, 4 mountain rescuers will leave this system, meaning the state will be forced to go to the Austrian system.

About getting lost as negligence only a very inexperienced person or a fool can talk! Personally I have no problem with contributing via taxes to rescue someone. He can be negligent and poorly equipped for all I care.

These are personal opinions again. Personally I think some should really pay themselves when MRS rescues them, because in the end volunteers expose themselves in these actions. Personally it annoys me when I see people rushing into the mountains in winter without gear, or in summer without proper footwear. The same could be applied to valleys and discuss if it's right that 118 rescues drunk people for free (although in that case doctors are paid and don't risk their own lives). But the fact remains that these climbers were neither inexperienced nor poorly equipped. Simply one of them got injured. And that can happen to anyone.

As long as cardiovascular diseases due to overeating and inactivity, liver cirrhosis due to alcohol, and cancer due to smoking are paid from taxes, rescuing hikers is negligible.
