How's the hut, open/closed? Do they serve food already?

Can someone tell what the conditions are from Kamnik Saddle to Okrešelj, is there still lots of snow? Is full winter gear needed? Thanks and take care.

Today my little brother Žan and I went again alone, traditionally to Kamnik Saddle. And already in the morning an incident happened. The day before we looked at the bus schedule, which was wrong, the first bus went almost an hour late, so instead of 7:00 at 7:55. Luckily we found out in the morning and rushed full speed to the bus, which we managed to catch on time (with some waiting). Well we drove off. We rode about 20 minutes. When we arrived in Kamniška Bistrica, Žan and I started walking right away and soon reached the first iconic spot-Galerija. From there we headed into the slope that ends at the lower station of the freight cable car. There you reach the forest road too, which you walk about 10 meters. Soon there's a branch and there the hiking path starts again. The path soon takes us to the Rokovnjaške caves and near them Žan and I had a short snack nasmeh. When we continued it started getting hot, so we hurried so the highest heat wouldn't catch us in the scree. So we soon reached another junction of hiking path and forest road. From there it was still about an hour to Pastirji, where we intended to prepare for the heat. But when we got to Pastirji we realized there'd be no heat, because it was windy and getting cloudier. So we went on, stopped at a rock on the meadow above Pastirji, later also at the rock named Kamrica. From there it was really just a little to the hut. When we reached the hut we ordered apple pie there. After snacking we paid and left. Descent to Pastirji went quick and soon we reached the stream below Pastirji, where we played for quite a while. When we stopped playing we continued descent and in the blink of an eye we were home in Kamniška Bistrica. There we had lunch: I had apple strudel, Žan had štruklji. After lunch we played on the playground and explored and time just flew. The bus came and took us safely home.mežikanje

Ajda and Žan, very commendable. Hope you get some young imitators and pull them from "sedentary" sports.

Until this year I hadn't been to Kamnik Saddle yet, now twice in one month nasmeh. I have to admit that the first time both the path (via Okrešelj) and the views at the saddle charmed me, so today I went to see how it looks from Kamniška Bistrica. Much more monotonous and also more strenuous (clearly, more elevation gain), but it's worth persevering, as it's nice up there even if the weather isn't ideal. Tons of hikers, both huts were besieged. Despite the sun it's nice to have a warmer jacket at the saddle, blows quite chilly mežikanje.

Nothing smart to add to Enka's comment about the saddle itself. Just adding the "extension" to Brana, where I climbed despite it being wrapped in fog upon arrival at the saddle and I had already written it off. Later the fogs mostly cleared and I went to check if everything is still like years ago. Brana, like KS, was well visited yesterday. As Enka wrote, nice views of KSA!

Today a dog with a brown collar was found at Kamnik Saddle. Owner please call 051 304 435 so we can connect you with the finder.

Apparently on the path to Kamnik Saddle at Pri pastirjih there's a note hanging that someone is looking for (probably this) dog, so it would be great if someone passing by notes down some contact.

Nice to go to Kamnik Saddle when there's low cloud cover and up top a wonderful autumn day awaits like today. Golden larches and some gentians only made my day even more beautiful.
