On the right side, if the hut is colored green, it is open, which generally means the path to the hut is "safe" and conditions are OK or "not too" demanding.
Still take winter gear with you!

Today and tomorrow the hut at Kamnik Saddle is open, the path is trodden. Today it was a bit foggy and at the top quite windy, but still a good tour. Snow starts from Jermanca onwards, crampons were not necessarily needed, but it is smart to always have them in the backpack. In the mountains one never knows. Good luck!

What does it mean (snow starts from Jermanca), that you can go to Jermanca by car?

Today, nice weather and the memorial at Kamniško Saddle attracted many hikers and skiers. It was really wonderful, the conclusion took place in a good mood in Kamniška Bistrica.

For fans of morning recreation, just one warning. At Jermanca currently logging is taking place, so it's better to leave your steel horses at Sedelšček or a bit lower at the hut... there will be less bad mood on both sides, and you'll do a bit more for your health... otherwise, today was wonderful for the ascent to the top of the Saddle...wink

The last 400-500 m below the summit there is still about 50 cm of snow, which is melting quickly. smile

Today I visited the saddle. Started walking at 5:30 from Kam. Bistrica. Snow starts only higher at Pastircev. It was hard and frozen. Didn't need crampons because footprints were made. Arrived at saddle at 7:30. Drank a bit and ate and flew down to the valley. At 8:15 already drinking tea at Jurju's.

Was at the saddle yesterday. Started around 9:30 from Jermanca (easy to reach the parking lot), so the snow was already soft and not frozen anymore - apparently it was frozen earlier. Upper part sinks a bit into soft snow, but the tour is super, nowhere really dangerous - up there spring, sun and .. pleasure smile

Today I was at the saddle from Jermanca, which I reached without problem (don't know if they still log up there, but today surely not - holiday). Since I was very early the snow starting from Pastircev onwards was still quite hard, so I easily reached the top on already made steps (crampons no longer needed at all). Drank tea, ate sandwich then watched some Pole who was traversing the slope (of course with all necessary gear) towards Brana.
Descent BP and at ten already home and whole day ahead, LP.

Today I was at K. saddle from Kamniška Bistrica. Path is BP, just here and there some snow patches. Despite cloudy weather, with cold wind and occasional fog at saddle and light rain lower, there were quite a few hikers. Hut was closed today, but winter room was open, which was very welcome...smile

Also yesterday 11.5. in the afternoon the weather was lousy. In the valley (Jermanca) it was clear, at the top windy and cold. I enjoyed the mountain peace. I met only a few "young ones", who were already returning! At 5:00 pm the rain then poured like from a bucket. But no problem, that has to be too. To the saddle I used 2:30 up, down in one hour.

Today I visited Kamniško Saddle and the event, Day of Kamnik Mountains. View from home window towards saddle was inviting at 6am, although I knew the weather front is just coming. Despite strong wind we started from Jermanca towards Kamniško Saddle. Towards the top raindrops already chased us, but the atmosphere in the hut drove it all away. For a short time sun shone again.
See you next year.!

At 04.30 I wake up and quickly decide to head to Kamnik Saddle. Started at the turning point and first break was a bit above Okrešelj. Next break was before entering the wall, where I put on my helmet. This part of the path that goes over the wall is full of scree, so helmet is highly recommended on this path, which very quickly proved the right decision when it started rattling higher above me. This time I was lucky and the falling scree missed me nasmeh
At the saddle there was coffee break, recommend it to everyone, it's very good.
After longer consideration I skip Brana and head back to Okrešelj, where I eat very good jota, on top another chamois.
The rest the pictures will tell.

If you didn't smell the first bloom, you might regret it, alpine rose that smells divinely.

Interesting, you're probably one of the few who only admires the flowers without smelling them too, that's their purpose, the alpine rose is even described in the book 100 Famous Plants in Slovenia.
Next time, don't regret the time to smell the flower too.
