Today a red hedgehog with a green cap rolled down from Snežnik. He really enjoyed it and survived the bumping with Snežnik

The hut on Snežnik will be closed this weekend 23rd and 24th April by decision of the hut keepers due to forecast of very bad weather!

Path to Snežnik from Sviščaki direction already completely snow-free, over Gašperjev hrib still a bit of snow in places. Hut from 1 May onwards open every Saturday and Sunday and all holidays until end of October, in August whole month every day.

Also over Gašperjev hrib the path is snow-free without snow traces, road also normally drivable.

Walked today, in opposite direction
thousands of gentians, velvety ones, shining on windy but sunny and panoramic top of Snežnik

Snow last weekend somewhere 20cm to 1.5m (windblown of course), mostly good half meter. Road to Sviščaki no problem, while from Leskove doline (at least to Sviščaki) impassable.
Hardest for walking was last slope under hut where on Saturday few broke through to top...on Sunday easier and trodden.
This weekend expect rain and likely melt most fallen snow.
Hut usually closed in November every year as keepers take deserved vacation between summer and winter season.

Who knows what the conditions are like on Veliki Snežnik? Is there any snow up there and on the path (especially from Leskove doline)?

Was two weeks ago.
No snow since then. Snow under 2000m normally nowhere around here. Conditions snow-free, forecast clear too. Temp at 1700 or 1800m changes daily, so can be icy somewhere.
