Exactly as described by >babo>. Probably we met on the path. You three already going down, we three sleepyheads up. We exchanged some words.
Path nicely trodden and frozen. Snow in forest ca 30cm, when you reach open almost no snow, except on trail that's trodden. Today ca 5cm powder fell, which will probably be blown away too. At top -17 degrees and quite windy. On descent we put on small crampons, not obligatory but recommended.

Really surprised by such conditions at this time on Snežnik. Given that quite some snow fell a while ago I would expect it to stay. Well today it will "add" some more...

Yes possible given time - mid December, compared to previous years, but demanded properly, and thaw anyway takes it.
Snow back, and tomorrow already carving. nasmeh

Last December almost no snow...fell only after new year. True that this winter already quite some, but that it took away...

Nice New Year's Eve hike to Snežnik. Start at Sviščaki at 8.20 (evening) at -4. Snow (little snow) frozen and pleasant for walking. At the top temperature around 0 but a bit windy. Well on Snežnik it's always a bit breezy. At midnight beautiful view of Reka and our Valley lit up by fireworks.
Janja and Slavko as always smiling and in good spirits, so one always gladly returns there.

Today on Snežnik such a beautiful day as one could wish for. With companion we started in Leskova dolina at 9.00 arrived at top at 12.00, sky heavenly blue without a cloud, a little windy. 2/3 path in snow which was crusty today, sinking in places. Finished tour at 15.00. Hut on top closed.

Snežnik? Not worthy of its name for this season. Sample snow and trouble when feet slip. Better than Snežnik today would suit "Jauka mountain" - ouch ouch who all was up there today and how whiny. Hikers with snowshoes and hikers in sneakers - on same trail. Otherwise sun from Črni kal to top. NO snow at Sviščaki if someone planned skiing or sledding. Road path to top covered with icy patches with trampled snow. Ideal to land on butt. From "drv" on trampled snow on ice or rocks that slide, such fun that you need quite some caution and poles not superfluous when balancing. Hut closed! Top like summer! Total calm, sun, views so kitschy. Nice nice on top today. Down due to little snow almost best to "ski" on boots - skiing pose, hope no stone stops descent and lucky. Well to drv more caution from there just caution. End at Sviščaki and back to fog.

Weather divine, view breathtaking.
And always pleasant for me to spot our flag in front of the hut waving so proudly. It's always there, not just on holidays.

So no snow? How about the road from Bistrica to Sviščaki? Maybe silly question but we're from the other end of SLO.

Hello!
No question is silly. Driving conditions excellent, road dry.
Path to Veliki Snežnik almost dry, except forest part where snow but well trodden. Higher up icy patches in places because snow melts during day freezes at night. Take crampons.

Return to Dom on Sviščaki can go via Mali Snežnik descent to Grda draga then road to Sviščaki. Track firm, markers visible, view divine.

On the return from Mali Snežnik choose the road, it is more comfortable.2

Yesterday on holiday I went from Leskova dolina to Snežnik. In shady spots still quite some snow, no bears met, some hikers. Most visitors from Sviščaki. Hut packed full during cultural program.
Use crampons!

Full moon on Friday invited us to Snežnik and since one should respond to the invitation, we went! At 20.00 we were at Sviščaki, where we wisely concluded that there was no big crowd. Actually it was pretty empty. The moon greeted us at the parking lot and promised us a pleasant night walk. But the mischievous moon soon played tricks on us, as we realized that obviously nobody had been to Snežnik for a couple of days, which means we were breaking trail in the fresh snow right after stepping from the "civilization" of Sviščaki into the forest (of course without snowshoes, because after the "wise" consultation at the parking lot we concluded that we wouldn't need them anyway - MISTAKE!!!). It sank 20 to 50 cm and soon we saw that mischievous grin on the moon's surface - got you. Luckily the wind at least spared us to the "kapitanova koča". From there on it just increased its strength and then the moon sulked and hid behind a veil of clouds. Obviously we no longer interested it. From "drv" through the scrub it sank a little less, the wind at least helped us a bit and froze or hardened the snow. To "skalce" it was still quite clear, from there on darkness as if there was no moon at all. Fog, wind - always stronger, snow pellets on the face like in beauty salons and as a reward the closed hut. Luckily there was a thermos of mulled wine and tea in the backpack, so we warmed up a bit and full of hope for an easy return turned around and at 23.30 showed our back to Snežnik. But the wind quickly blew away that thought of an easy return. On the way back we were breaking trail again as if we hadn't gone up at all since auntie burja had diligently swept away our tracks. But we didn't give up and successfully fought our way back to the car, which frozen waited for us where we had left it. Conclusion: the next full moon will be more perfect with frozen snow that won't sink (or with snowshoes on our feet) and with wind that will be asleep and with a hutkeeper who won't be asleep. Well, we wish him sleep, because for our yesterday's quartet it really wouldn't make sense to heat the hut. And let someone else say that the moon doesn't give meaning to the day (it fully meaningfulized ours yesterday).
