Nice pictures katty. Yesterday afternoon I was also itching to go up but postponed to this morning. I also sign in the Friend of Ratitovec book and collect about 20 entries per year. The norm is 15. There's a lady from Križna gora who's been going up every day since 2005 .
Anyway today nice sunny, thermometer at the hut showed -5, views phenomenal of course. Path is trodden, icy in some parts. I went up via Razor and Vratca. That path well trodden too, especially more skiing on this side. For continuing to Pečana snowshoes would be good. And some more pics, sadly taken with phone.

Yeah, I know Zofka. While we others go up, she's already been down to the valley a few times. But she goes up multiple times a day, she also hikes with our local club on some tours.

I often visit Ratitovec from boh.side, path normally hiked, but nice to ski to the car, somewhere halfway on the road between Bitenjska and Ribčeva planina, last on Saturday, enthusiastic about snow and flank in the hut, enjoy.

Today planning to go to Gladki vrh and of course to Krekova hut, then also to Kosmati vrh. Need some info how trodden it is from Razor towards Kosmati vrh.

Here, went again towards Ratitovec . Nice path, quite icy in some parts, so crampons mandatory. At Vratca I went right up towards Kosmati vrh, but at last moment decided to go straight to Krekova hut. To it past the mine all nicely trodden, so really nice walking. And no one anywhere, nice little path, so solitary . Since I was still quite early, didn't want to go down yet, suddenly decided to go to Altemaver too. All trodden, locally quite icy, so for descent extra care with steps not amiss. Wind and late hour force me back to hut. Quickly put on warmer clothes, then crampons on and down. Yeah yeah, crampons crampons and once more crampons mandatory. Anyway, nice again. Wish for more such nice days.

Super tour Tadej. Did you do it all on foot? How long did it take? I've done a similar loop a few times by bike and then hiked to the top. Bravo again.

I walked the path entirely on foot. At 6:00 I started at the road marker 2 km, then around 14:30 returned to the same spot.
Let me add that the road to Rovtarica is officially closed. It's drivable for the first 5 km, then there's a traffic sign prohibiting further driving.

Hello.
On Sunday I'd like to go to Ratitovec, wondering if the path is still icy or if I need crampons? I have them but my buddies don't and don't know if it's wise to let them up without. Thanks for any info. B.

B.smart path from Prtovč over Poden is completely dry, so no crampons needed. Over Razor they come in handy. With lots of caution even without. So visit it happily

Already mid-week a decision is made to head to Ratitovec in the afternoon. Weather supposedly good, so super again and windy. We climbed via Razor, some snow there but enough degrees to cross it. At the saddle we continued towards Kosmati vrh, which is really nice. Since Ratitovec summit and Krekova hut are about 1h walk from there, the visit is accordingly worthwhile. Met people only on Razor, rest of the path alone. As said, Kosmati vrh offers real silence and peace, so don't skip this peak next time you want to come to these parts. Of course windy on top, after about 5 minutes we descend towards Vratce and continue to Krekova koča. Some snow here, but no sinking and no crampons needed. When we come out of the forest, completely dry again. Hut open of course, earned tea and the often-mentioned flancat. Yes, really good. Extremely friendly keepers otherwise. We return via Razor - the fastest. When I look left to the rocky ridge, I spot 5 chamois. Completely surprised, I freeze. We watched and admired them for a few minutes. Time started chasing us, so we hurry to the starting point.
Nice afternoon again, chamois made it even better. Full of new impressions, I can't wait to return.

Today on Ratitovec, exceptional weather, winter-spring idyll of fresh fallen snow! Beautiful, almost speechless!
